Jonathan Wilhite struggled as a slot cornerback in Sunday's close loss to the Colts, and was replaced by Mike Richardson, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:The rookie fourth-rounder is not a great athlete and was exposed by a high-octane Colts' aerial attack. He holds no fantasy value in IDP leagues.

Jonathan Wilhite suffered an undisclosed injury in Sunday's battle against San Francisco, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View:He worked as the slot cornerback when the Patriots went with six defensive backs. The team cannot afford to lose him, as they were already playing without Lewis Sanders.

Rookie cornerback Jonathan Wilhite returned to practice this week after dealing with a right hamstring injury, and could make his preseason debut tonight against the Eagles, according to the Boston Globe. His goal is to play in a preseason game prior to the regular season. Wilhite said he didn't think the injury has left him too far behind in the cornerback race and he said, "I was in all the meetings. I watched practice film with them, so I don't think I really got behind. It's good to go out there and get some physical reps and just get out there and practice. I think I'm ready to work back into it now."

Our View:Wilhite is a tough kid with good instincts and has a shot to develop into a good starter for New England. But his fantasy value looks to be limited while learning the ropes in a backup role as a rookie.

The Patriots have inked fourth-round pick Jonathan Wilhite (Auburn) to a four-year deal, according to the Boston Globe. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Our View:Wilhite will compete with fellow rookie Terrence Wheatley, second-year player Mike Richardson, and veterans Fernando Bryant, Jason Webster, and Lewis Sanders to replace Asante Samuel and Randall Gay. Wilhite possesses solid instincts and toughness and was a solid pick for the fourth round.
