August 28, 2008
Rookie Bruce Davis is believed to be on the bubble while fighting with Mike Humpal and Andre Frazier for the final spot at linebacker, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Our View:Davis has solid skills as a pass rusher and enjoyed a good career at UCLA, but projects as a "tweener" in the NFL due to his lack of ideal size to play linebacker or defensive end.
August 13, 2008
Rookie Bruce Davis is off to a slow start with the Steelers, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Coach Mike Tomlin said, "He was active, not to be confused with productive [against the Eagles]. He is a young guy with a lot of energy and desire. He's playing catch-up and he has to catch up in a hurry this week. I'm pleased with his approach, but I need to see some results."

Our View:He enjoyed a solid career as a defensive end at UCLA, but projects as a "tweener" in the NFL. He has a shot to compete for a solid role in the future, but shouldn't make much of an impact as a rookie.

The Steelers have inked third-round rookie Bruce Davis (UCLA) to a three-year contract, according to ProFootballTalk.com. Davis will receive a signing bonus of around $500,000, with base salaries of $285,000, $385,000, and $470,000 over the three years of the deal .

Our View:Davis was a force as a defensive end in college, but the Steelers could move him to OLB due to a lack of size and bulk (6-2 240 pounds).
May 21, 2008
Rookie Bruce Davis (UCLA) will miss the rest of the Steelers' OTA because of an agreement between the NFL and NCAA that limits a player to one minicamp with a pro team while his school is still in session, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Davis will miss all of the offseason workouts except for the minicamp.

Our View:Final exams end at UCLA June 13. Davis was a force as a defensive end in college, but the Steelers could move him to OLB due to a lack of size and bulk (6-2 240 pounds). Most of the time players fail when switching from DE to OLB, but Davis is a great athlete and will have a chance to make a successful transition in Pittsburgh.
