Newsbreakers
October 28, 2008
The Saints released Taylor Mehlhaff on Tuesday. It is the second time that the kicker has been cut loose by the team this year.

Our View:Mehlhaff missed an extra point in Week 8, which is the likely reason for his release. The team has yet to sign a replacement.
October 8, 2008
As expected, Taylor Mehlhaff has been re-signed by the Saints, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Our View:Mehlhaff is worth targeting as he will be working in a high-scoring offense, and has the luxury of playing his home games in a dome.
October 8, 2008
Taylor Mehlhaff told the Aberdeen News that he will re-sign with the Saints pending a physical Wednesday.

Our View:The rookie was beaten by Martin Gramatica for the placekicking job at the start of the season, but Gramatica is reportedly on his way out after missing a crucial field goal attempt in Monday's close loss to Minnesota. Mehlhaff would garner fantasy consideration while working in the Saints' high-scoring offense.
August 30, 2008
Taylor Mehlhaff has been waived by the Saints, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:The rookie was beaten by Martin Gramatica to serve as the Saints' placekicker this season. Gramatica should post solid fantasy numbers this season in the high-scoring offense led by Drew Brees.
August 25, 2008
Taylor Mehlhaff and Martin Gramatica are still fighting it out for the job as Saints kicker, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.

Our View:It is possible that the Saints could keep both kickers, but not likely. However, it still sounds like it's Gramatica's job to lose. Considering that the Saints figure to score quite a bit, either one would be a solid kicker on fantasy teams.
