January 7, 2009 Tom Zbikowski has replaced Yamon Figurs as a return man on kickoffs, according to the Carroll County Times. Figurs has had issues with ball security and coach John Harbaugh said, "Tom, he's secured the football. He's taken it north and south. He's got a record in college for being a good returner and we're hopeful that we can make some plays on kick returns."
Our View:The Ravens made the switch namely as they cannot afford a turnover from Figurs on kickoffs in a tough playoff match-up Sunday at Tennessee.
October 12, 2008 Safety Tom Zbikowski injured his shoulder in the first quarter of the Week 6 loss to the Colts and did not return, the Baltimore Sun reports.
Our View:The Ravens entered the game without cornerbacks Samari Rolle (shoulder) and Fabian Washington (shoulder) and safety Dawan Landry (neck), and they can't afford to lose any more defensive backs. Their secondary could continue to look vulnerable in the coming weeks.
July 22, 2008 The Ravens have inked third-round pick Tom Zbikowski (Notre Dame) to a three-year deal worth $1.66 million, according to the Carroll County Times.
Our View:Zbikowski was selected higher than expected in the third round as he lacks the skills to develop into a starter, especially in Baltimore behind Ed Reed and Dawan Landry.
