Drew Bledsoe retired Wednesday, ending a 14-year career, according to the AP. "I feel so fortunate, so honored, to have played this game that I love for so long, with so many great players, and in front of so many wonderful fans," he said. "I fulfilled a childhood dream the first time I stepped on an NFL field, and the league did not let me down one time. I retire with a smile on my face, in good health, and ready to spend autumns at my kids' games instead of my own. I'm excited to start the next chapter of my life."

It appears that Drew Bledsoe will be a backup when Sunday's game gets underway. The Star-Telegram cites a source that said Tony Romo will get the nod as the starter this weekend over Bledsoe. Unless Romo implodes, Bledsoe probably is done starting games for the Cowboys.

Drew Bledsoe was benched at the half of Monday's loss to the Giants. Bledsoe threw for 111 yards and had a touchdown run in his half of play, but he also threw an interception at the goal line and was sacked four times, once for a safety. Tony Romo threw for 227 yards and two scores in the second half, though he was also intercepted three times. Bill Parcells refused to name a Week 8 starter after the game, as you'd expect; the Cowboys travel to Carolina next week.

Drew Bledsoe was picked off three times on Sunday and posted a QB Rating of just 33.1, but head coach Bill Parcells announced on Monday that the veteran would remain his starting quarterback, according to ESPN. There had been some speculation that Bledsoe would be replaced by Tony Romo.
