Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/12, 11:24 AM CT
Bengals inactives: QB Carson Palmer (3rd), K Shayne Graham, SS Dexter Jackson, LB Corey Mays, WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson, DT John Thornton, DT Jason Shirley.

Our View: Ryan Fitzpatrick is starting at quarterback in place of Carson Palmer, and Dave Rayner is the Bengals' kicker.
Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/12, 10:42 AM CT
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports Carson Palmer (elbow) will be the Bengals' third quarterback and inactive for Sunday's game.

Our View: Ryan Fitzpatrick will start at quarterback with Jordan Palmer as his backup.
Shayne Graham, K Sunday 10/12, 10:34 AM CT
The Bengals' team website reports Shayne Graham (groin) didn't kick before Sunday's game and has been made inactive. Dave Rayner will be the Bengals' kicker on Sunday.

Our View: This is tough luck for Graham owners, but he didn't figure to be a great fantasy play anyway with Ryan Fitzpatrick starting at quarterback.
Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/12, 8:44 AM CT
FOX Sports believes Carson Palmer could lose his starting job if the Bengals don't start winning games.

Our View: Palmer is out today with an inflamed elbow, and the team may opt to keep him out if they fall too far out of the playoff race, to prevent the risk of further injury. This is merely speculation at this point, but Palmer owners should start looking for solid insurance just in case.
Reagan Mauia, FB Saturday 10/11, 11:23 AM CT
Fullback Reagan Mauia was waived by the Bengals on Saturday, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Mauia was cut so the team would have room on their roster for kicker Dave Rayner to handle kickoffs.
Dave Rayner, K Saturday 10/11, 11:20 AM CT
The Cincinnati Bengals signed kicker Dave Rayner to be the kickoff specialist, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Bengals kicker Shayne Graham has an injury to his groin, which hampers the distance on his kicks. However, Graham is still expected to kick field goals and extra points. Still, fantasy owners may want to replace Graham on their roster just in case.
Pat Sims, DT Saturday 10/11, 10:53 AM CT
Bengals third-round pick, defensive tackle Pat Sims, may get on the field for the first time this season as John Thornton battles an Achilles injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Sims has been nicked up with injuries this year, and has been a disappointment so far. Of course, it's very early in his career, and it is entirely possible he turns things around.
Dhani Jones, LB Friday 10/10, 8:09 PM CT
Dhani Jones fully practiced Friday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He had been nursing a foot ailment.

Our View: He should be good to go for this weekend's battle against the Jets. Jones currently leads the NFL with 51 tackles, and should remain penciled into lineups in IDP leagues.
Dexter Jackson, S Friday 10/10, 8:06 PM CT
Dexter Jackson was limited in Friday's practice while dealing with his thumb injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: If he plays this weekend against the Jets, he should not be considered for fantasy lineups while battling rising star Chinedum Ndukwe for playing time at strong safety.
Shayne Graham, K Friday 10/10, 8:03 PM CT
Shayne Graham missed Friday's practice and remains questionable for Sunday's game against the Jets, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: The team will try out kickers for kickoff duty, but Graham is still expected to handle field goals. He will be a risky fantasy option, and could potentially be limited to shorter attempts, especially if the weather conditions are less than ideal at the Meadowlands.
Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB Friday 10/10, 4:13 PM CT
Ryan Fitzpatrick will make his second start of the season this weekend against the Jets in place of the ailing Carson Palmer (elbow inflammation), according to the AP.

Our View: The Bengals want to hold Palmer out so his injury can calm down and not manifest into a more serious problem. Fitzpatrick threw three interceptions in his last start in a 20-12 loss to Cleveland, and is not a recommended option against the Jets, who will be well-rested while coming off a bye.
Carson Palmer, QB Friday 10/10, 1:19 PM CT
Carson Palmer will not start this weekend due to an inflamed elbow, according to Bengals.com. Coach Marvin Lewis said it's possible Palmer could be the backup to Ryan Fitzpatrick. "We're trying to get it not a week-to-week thing. We want to get the thing calmed down so it doesn't give him any irritation or problems at all," Lewis said.

Our View: You've got to be really concerned with Palmer. He looked timid last week and clearly this elbow problem isn't going away. Fitzpatrick was not very good in his last start for Pallmer, throwing three interceptions, losing a fumble and accumulating a QB rating of just 44.5
Carson Palmer, QB Friday 10/10, 11:16 AM CT
Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer has not thrown in their practice Friday, and he was seen with an ice pack wrapped around his right elbow, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Ryan Fitzpatrick was doing the throwing during drills. Palmer missed one game but came back last week against Dallas and played okay, throwing two touchdowns and an interception while completing 59 percent of his passes. Fantasy owners should monitor his status, as it likely will not be known if he will play until game time.
Cedric Benson, RB Friday 10/10, 8:34 AM CT
As the Cincinnati Bengals and New York Jets prepare to face off, there seems to be no love lost between Bengals back Cedric Benson and Jets back Thomas Jones, according to Bengals.com. Jones said earlier that he looked at Benson, "like a little kid." Benson went on to say that Jones was "unprofessional," and that he "probably shouldn't have said that."

Our View: These two certainly won't be exchanging Christmas cards anytime soon. Fantasy owners, on the other hand, would send out a bevy of cards if either one of them could rush for 4.0 yards per carry or find their way into the end zone.
Cedric Benson, RB Thursday 10/9, 9:01 PM CT
The AP reports that Marvin Lewis has been pleased with Cedric Benson's ability to run between the tackles so far in practices. "I thought he was pretty decisive in his cuts, in his movement, which is important now where we are," Lewis said.

Our View: Chris Perry has fumbled five times this season and lost three of them. His continued struggles suggest that his owners handcuff him with Benson if they have not already.
Shayne Graham, K Thursday 10/9, 4:12 PM CT
The Bengals website reports that Shayne Graham was held out of practice on Thursday with a right groin injury.

Our View: His status for Sunday is uncertain and it was not reported when he suffered the injury. However, he did practice on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the injury report to see if the kicker is able to go on Sunday.
Carson Palmer, QB Thursday 10/9, 12:03 PM CT
Carson Palmer was once again held out of passing drills Thursday while nursing his ailing right elbow, according to the Bengals' official website.

Our View: Palmer is expected to work more on Friday, which will determine his status for Sunday's game against the Jets.
Corey Mays, LB Wednesday 10/8, 6:53 PM CT
Bengals linebacker Corey Mays has been ruled out for Week 6, according to the AP.

Our View: Mays is suffering from an injured ankle. The linebacker has recorded only three tackles in the Bengals five losses.
Dexter Jackson, S Wednesday 10/8, 3:19 PM CT
Dexter Jackson, who has been hindered by a thumb injury, has resumed practicing Wednesday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: The veteran could be ready to return to the gridiron this weekend against the Jets, but will likely have to battle Chinedum Ndukwe to reclaim his starting job at strong safety.
Carson Palmer, QB Wednesday 10/8, 1:51 PM CT
The Bengals' official website indicates that Carson Palmer will throw as little as possible throughout the week in practice.

Our View: He is obviously not recovered from his inflamed right elbow, but is still expected to start Sunday against the Jets.
Carson Palmer, QB Wednesday 10/8, 11:35 AM CT
Carson Palmer's inflamed right elbow responded as expected in last week's battle against Dallas, and he is hopeful to play in Week 6 against the Jets, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: He admitted that he lacked confidence while hindered by the injury, but still performed well in the losing effort against Dallas, and should be considered for fantasy lineups if he starts Sunday.
Antwon Burton, DL Wednesday 10/8, 7:19 AM CT
Antwon Burton auditioned for the Rams Tuesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: Burton failed to make an impact over two years in Denver, and would hold no fantasy value with the Rams if signed.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Tuesday 10/7, 4:18 PM CT
The NFL trade deadline is nearing and there have been grumblings that the San Francisco 49ers may have interest in T.J. Houshmandzadeh, according to the Dayton Daily News.

Our View: The 49ers are looking to upgrade the receiver position opposite veteran Isaac Bruce and are expected to do so by the trading deadline. The acquisition of Houshmandzadeh would provide the team with more firepower in the passing game.
Simeon Castille, CB Tuesday 10/7, 1:52 PM CT
The Cincinnati Bengals re-signed cornerback Simeon Castille to their practice squad, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Castille was on the active roster, but waived in order to make room for linebacker Abdul Hodge. He made the team as an undrafted free agent.
Kenny Watson, RB Tuesday 10/7, 1:50 PM CT
As expected, the Cincinnati Bengals re-signed running back Kenny Watson on Tuesday, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Watson was promised that by the team that he would be re-signed (which is against league policy), and that came to fruition. Cincinnati starts Chris Perry, but unless he stops fumbling, Perry may lose time to Cedric Benson and Watson.
Darryl Blackstock, LB Tuesday 10/7, 1:47 PM CT
Bengals linebacker Darryl Blackstock has been suspended four games for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing drugs, according to Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: Blackstock claims he took an over-the-counter nutritional supplement which contained a banned substance. He will be eligible to return for the team's game Nov. 16 against the Eagles.
Kenny Watson, RB Tuesday 10/7, 11:23 AM CT
The Tennessee Titans broke league rules by cutting and then promising to re-sign quarterback Chris Simms, and the Cincinnati Bengals will be in violation as well when they re-sign running back Kenny Watson as they promised, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: The website explains that this is roster manipulation, and though it is common, the league does have rules against it. No word on any possible ramifications for either team.
Cedric Benson, RB Monday 10/6, 6:21 PM CT
Cedric Benson will see his workload increased per the game plan of HC Marvin Lewis, according to The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: With Chris Perry turning into a fumbling machine (five in five games, three were lost), the club certainly doesn't have much to lose by turning to Benson. However, it remains to be seen just what the guy has in the tank at this point, so take a cautious approach.
Kenny Watson, RB Monday 10/6, 3:22 PM CT
Coach Marvin Lewis indicated that Kenny Watson will be re-signed by the Bengals Monday, according to the official team website. His contract was previously terminated to make room for receiver Chris Henry on the roster.

Our View: Watson would compete with Cedric Benson for the primary backup job behind starter Chris Perry, which could hold some fantasy significance since Perry could be falling out of favor with five fumbles, and is only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
Chris Perry, RB Monday 10/6, 1:12 PM CT
Chris Perry is still struggling with ball security as he fumbled for the fifth time in Sunday's close loss to Dallas, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: If he doesn't take better care of the ball, newly acquired Cedric Benson could potentially unseat him as the starter, especially since Perry is only averaging 2.8 yards per carry.
Chris Henry, WR Sunday 10/5, 7:27 PM CT
Chris Henry was back on the field for the Bengals in Week 5 but he did not catch a single pass.

Our View: The Bengals offense actually showed a little life against the Cowboys but Henry was a non-factor.
T.J. Houshmandzadeh, WR Sunday 10/5, 6:36 PM CT
T.J. Houshmandzadeh scored two touchdowns to go along with his 85 yards receiving in the Bengals' 33-21 loss to the Cowboys.

Our View: The Bengals offense actually showed a little promise in the loss. Houshmandzadeh and Ocho Cinco caught 10 balls for 128 yards combined.
Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/5, 2:19 PM CT
Quarterback Carson Palmer is active and will start this afternoon against Dallas.

Our View: Good news for Palmer owners, though, it might be wise to temper your expectations with him facing a mad Cowboys squad looking to rebound after last week's loss to the Redskins.
Dexter Jackson, S Sunday 10/5, 2:14 PM CT
Bengals inactives: SS Dexter Jackson (thumb injury), FB Reagan Maui’a, LB Corey Mays (ankle injury), WR Andre Caldwell, WR Jerome Simpson, DL Pat Sims, DL Jason Shirley.

Our View: Chinedum Ndukwe will make his fourth consecutive start at strong safety in place of Jackson (thumb), and is a solid IDP option. Quarterback Carson Palmer (elbow) and offensive tackle Levi Jones (knee) will start in a tough road match-up against Dallas.
Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/5, 1:45 PM CT
All pre-game indications at Texas Stadium are that Carson Palmer will return to the starting quarterback job after missing last week's game with an ailing throwing elbow, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Palmer came out and warmed up in sweats, something he didn't do last week when Ryan Fitzpatrick played against Cleveland. The inactive lists are due out shortly, so we will have the official skinny in a few minutes.
Carson Palmer, QB Sunday 10/5, 9:29 AM CT
Quarterback Carson Palmer is lobbying to play against Dallas, according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.

Our View: Palmer was limited in practice Wednesday and Thursday, however, he practiced fully on Friday and reports earlier in the week suggested he would start. This is an afternoon game, so we won't know for sure until 3:00 CST, but it appears Palmer will start against Dallas this afternoon.
Kenny Watson, RB Saturday 10/4, 12:38 PM CT
The Bengals terminated the contract of Kenny Watson Saturday in order to make room for Chris Henry on the active roster.

Our View: Watson was a valuable piece for the Bengals last year but has been unable to shake injuries this season. He could end up on the team's practice squad if no one else scoops him up.
Chris Henry, WR Saturday 10/4, 12:37 PM CT
The Bengals officially added Chris Henry to the active roster Saturday. He'll likely slide into the No. 3 receiver role immediately.

Our View: Henry could be worth adding in fantasy leagues right away, but his value is minimal if Carson Palmer is out.
Chris Perry, RB Friday 10/3, 5:51 PM CT
Chris Perry has been limited in practice all week because of a sore hamstring but he is listed as probable in Friday's injury report.

Our View: Perry has rushed for 208 yards and two touchdowns this season for the Bengals. He will see plenty of carries this week as Carson Palmer battles a sore elbow.
Levi Jones, T Friday 10/3, 4:10 PM CT
Left tackle Levi Jones was not dressed out for practice on Friday but coach Marvin Lewis said he'll play and is listed as probable according to the team's website. Jones is taking treatments for knee cartilage damage and can't work out for 24 hours.

Our View: Jones is one of the better linemen on the Bengals and they'll need him to be at his best to protect a gimpy Carson Palmer against DeMarcus Ware and the rest of the Cowboys pass rush.
Chris Henry, WR Friday 10/3, 4:07 PM CT
It appears that Chris Henry could be ready to start on Sunday. The Bengals website tells us the team has yet to add him to the roster, but coach Marvin Lewis said, "He's had a good week of practice. Obviously he got the message and he spent the four weeks (of suspension) being very productive."

Our View: Henry averaged three catches per game last season and that is a good projection for his impact this Sunday if he is on the roster and assuming Carson Palmer starts.
Carson Palmer, QB Friday 10/3, 4:03 PM CT
Conflicting John Clayton's earlier report, the Bengals website reports that Carson Palmer should be ready to go on Sunday in Dallas. Coach Marvin Lewis said Palmer threw for all the routes, whether they were short, long or intermediate. "He did well. We'll see how he is in the morning," Lewis said. "If things continue as they have, I think all systems are go." He was listed as questionable in Friday's injury report.

Our View: Palmer has maintained all week that he will be ready to go this Sunday and it appears that he is going to get the start. He should get plenty of work as the Bengals figure to be playing catch up most of the day.
Simeon Castille, CB Friday 10/3, 2:44 PM CT
Bengals cornerback Simeon Castille was waived from the team on Friday in order to make room on the roster for Abdul Hodge, according to Scout.com.

Our View: Castille is a rookie who has contributed six tackles to the team. He is expected to be re-signed by Cincinnati if nobody picks him up off waivers.
Abdul Hodge, LB Friday 10/3, 2:42 PM CT
The Cincinnati Bengals signed linebacker Abdul Hodge off of their practice squad and onto their active roster, according to Scout.com.

Our View: Hodge will be the backup at middle linebacker, and should see time on special teams. He is a former third-round selection of the Green Bay Packers.
Carson Palmer, QB Thursday 10/2, 10:28 PM CT
John Clayton of ESPN does not believe Carson Palmer will be ready to participate in Sunday's game at Dallas due to his ailing right elbow.

Our View: Clayton suggests that the Bengals may hold him out as they don't want to risk a long-term injury. Palmer intends to play, but the doctors and staff will make a determination on his status Friday. Ryan Fitzpatrick would make another start at quarterback if Palmer is out.
Dexter Jackson, S Thursday 10/2, 8:58 PM CT
Dexter Jackson is out for Week 5 due to his thumb injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Chinedum Ndukwe looks to make another start at strong safety in his place, and should be penciled into lineups against Dallas. Ndukwe registered six tackles (three solo), a sack, and an interception last weekend against Cleveland.
Dhani Jones, LB Thursday 10/2, 1:53 PM CT
Linebacker Dhani Jones practiced on Thursday, one day after being held out, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Jones was dealing with a foot malady, but he was participating in full contact drills and should be ready to play Week 5 when the team faces Dallas.
Johnathan Joseph, CB Thursday 10/2, 1:51 PM CT
Bengals corner Johnathan Joseph participated in practice on Thursday, one day after being limited due to a sprained ankle, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Joseph looks like he will play on Sunday, though neither he nor the Bengals' defense hold any fantasy value.
Carson Palmer, QB Thursday 10/2, 1:49 PM CT
Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer threw for a bit on the side during the team's practice, according to Bengals.com.

Our View: Palmer is dealing with an elbow injury, and the fact that he is throwing at all is good news, but it was only from a distance of about 10 yards. It remains unlikely that he will play Week 5.
Kenny Watson, RB Thursday 10/2, 12:29 PM CT
Kenny Watson missed practice for the second straight day, according to the Bengals' website.

Our View: He will likely be doubtful for this Sunday's game in Dallas.
Chris Henry, WR Thursday 10/2, 8:24 AM CT
The possibility remains that Bengals wideout Chris Henry could play on Sunday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: Henry would once again give the Bengals a very capable three receiver set. His fantasy value would be limited, though, because Carson Palmer may not play, and because his conditioning may not be where it needs to right now.
Chris Perry, RB Wednesday 10/1, 4:45 PM CT
Chris Perry was limited in practice on Wednesday due to a sore hamstring, according to the AP.

Our View: This could be somewhat of an indication on why the Bengals went out and signed Cedric Benson. Wednesday was the first time that Perry's name has shown up on the injury report but there wasn't any indication whether or not he will ready for Week 5.
DeDe Dorsey, RB Wednesday 10/1, 4:40 PM CT
Bengals running back DeDe Dorsey was officially placed on the IR due to a hamstring injury, according to the AP.

Our View: With the loss of Dorsey to the IR the Bengals signed Cedric Benson. Dorsey didn't hold any fantasy value before the injury.
Chris Henry, WR Wednesday 10/1, 4:34 PM CT
Chris Henry once again practiced with the Bengals on Wednesday, according to the AP. The 0-4 Bengals released Henry due to numerous conduct violations but turned around and re-signed the receiver. Henry has not officially been added to the roster, so during practice he worked with the scout team and played the role of Terrell Owens.

Our View: Henry has been serving a four-game suspension and his return will add another weapon to the Bengals offense. There is no official word on if Henry will be on the active roster for the Bengals Week 5 game versus the Cowboys.
Cedric Benson, RB Wednesday 10/1, 2:49 PM CT
Coach Marvin Lewis commented that newly acquired running back Cedric Benson could get some snaps in Week 5 at Dallas, according to the Bengals' official website.

Our View: DeDe Dorsey has been placed on the IR and Kenny Watson is hindered by a hamstring injury, leaving Benson the only option behind starter Chris Perry. Benson does not yet merit fantasy consideration, especially with a tough road match-up against the Cowboys.
Kenny Watson, RB Wednesday 10/1, 1:15 PM CT
Kenny Watson missed Wednesday's practice while still bothered by his hamstring injury, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.

Our View: It does not appear he will be available for Sunday's game at Dallas. The club signed Cedric Benson on Tuesday for roster depth behind starter Chris Perry.
Johnathan Joseph, CB Wednesday 10/1, 12:36 PM CT
Johnathan Joseph was dressed in pads, but only worked on the side during Wednesday's practice, according to the Bengals' official website. He is still recovering from a sprained ankle.

Our View: Joseph is a solid NFL cornerback and the Bengals cannot afford to be without him against Terrell Owens and the Cowboys' offense in Week 5. As a fantasy performer, his value is low.
Carson Palmer, QB Wednesday 10/1, 12:32 PM CT
Carson Palmer, who is dealing with inflammation in his right elbow, did not throw passes during Wednesday's practice, according to the Bengals' official website. He is only simulating a throwing motion in drills and said, "Nothing's changed. I'm preparing to play. I'm expecting to play. I'll be a little bit limited in practice, but I'm getting as many reps as I can. It looks like it's going to come down to a decision later in the week. It's definitely getting better. It's progressing day-to-day. I just cross my fingers and keep praying and hope it keeps progressing."

Our View: He is considered questionable for Sunday's battle at Dallas. We will keep you posted on his status.
Carson Palmer, QB Wednesday 10/1, 11:01 AM CT
Carson Palmer is backtracking his previous statement that he will play in Week 5, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer. He is now saying his status is yet to be determined and he added, "It's a similar situation to last week. We'll see how things play out this week."

Our View: He remains questionable with inflammation in his right elbow. Ryan Fitzpatrick led Chad Johnson to his first touchdown of the season last week, but was not an effective starter while filling in for Palmer.
Chad Johnson, WR Wednesday 10/1, 10:41 AM CT
Chad Johnson commented that he intends to kiss the Dallas star at midfield when he scores a touchdown this weekend against the Cowboys, according to the Dallas Morning News. He said, "I've got so much respect for y'all, if I score Sunday, I love Dallas so much, I'm going to take my helmet off, get a fine and kiss the star. when I score, I'm going to take my helmet off and kiss the star. Can I do that? Why not? That's not a sign of disrespect. That's a good thing isn't it?"

Our View: It remains to be seen how the Cowboys, as well as the referees, will respond to Johnson's plan if he does score on Sunday. He scored his first touchdown of the season in Week 4 in a tough loss to Cleveland.
