Chargers say out with Woods and in with Walker San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Chargers waived
wide receiver Rashaun Woods on Tuesday and claimed receiver Gerran Walker
off waivers from Indianapolis.
Walker earned All-Patriot League first-team honors in his senior year at
Lehigh University, collecting 38 catches for 608 yards and four touchdowns. He
also returned kicks for Lehigh with 29 returns for 702 yards (24.2-yard
average). The 5-foot-9, 188-pounder signed with the Colts as an undrafted free
agent following the draft.

Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman has decided to play with two torn ligaments in his knee, according to FoxSports.com. Merriman told the website that he was "100 percent" sure this was what he wanted to do.
Our View:Merriman is putting his career at risk by playing, as each and every doctor he visited told him to have season-ending surgery. However, if he is able to make it through the season, Merriman will clearly benefit the Chargers D/ST unit on fantasy teams.
Chargers tackle Marcus McNeill will not play in the Chargers final preseason game and he may not be ready to suit up in Week 1 because of a stinger, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. L.J. Shelton has been manning the left tackle position in McNeill's stead.
Our View:McNeill has not played a single snap in a preseason game, but Shelton is a more than competent backup, so fantasy owners need not worry.
Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman will make a decision on what to do concerning his injured left knee by the end of the week, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune. Every doctor he has seen has told him he should undergo surgery, which would end his season.
Our View:Merriman would be taking an enormous risk by not having surgery and attempting to play with a torn PCL and LCL. When drafting D/ST units or players in IDP leagues, it may be wise to assume that Merriman will be gone for 2008.
