Newsbreakers
Manny Lawson, LBTuesday 10/7, 12:25 PM CT
49ers linebacker Manny Lawson's hamstring is healing, and he believes he is at 80 percent and hoping to play this week, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View:Lawson did not play Week 5 due to the malady. He has not lived up to his first-round draft status as a pass rusher, accumulating just 2.5 sacks in his three-year career, and two of those came in Week 2 of his rookie year. However, he is still just 24 years old and has a chance to turn it around.
J.T. O'Sullivan, QBMonday 10/6, 5:29 PM CT
J.T. O'Sullivan may have thrown five interceptions in the past two games but he still has the faith of the organization, according to The Press Democrat. "I believe J.T. gives us our best chance to win," HC Mike Nolan said.

Our View:There are some growing whispers in the local media that O'Sullivan could be on a short leash, but we have a hard time believing he will be benched in favor of Shaun Hill any time soon, so just remain patient with J.T.
Vernon Davis, TEMonday 10/6, 5:22 PM CT
Vernon Davis has done a fine job blocking opponents this season, though he has only five receptions through five games, according to The Press Democrat. "He's done an outstanding job blocking, both pass and run," HC Mike Nolan said. "The objective is to get the ball in his hand. He has a responsibility to himself to run the correct routes. By no stretch would I say he's a bust."

Our View:Davis may not be a real life bust, but he is the fantasy football version of Britney Spears career, and that our friends is a complete and utter bust. He certainly can't get any worse, but we've also seen nothing to recommend even rostering him at this point.
