49ers safety Michael Lewis did not practice on Wednesday because of a abdomen injury, according to the AP.

Our View:There is no word on Lewis' status for this weekend. Lewis is having stellar season with 69 tackles and two sacks.

The San Francisco 49ers may not go after free agent quarterback Matt Cassel in the offseason, because they may believe Shaun Hill is better than him, according to Matt Maiocco of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

Our View:They certainly didn't think he was better than him for the first half of the season, as J.T. O'Sullivan was named the starter. Hill has performed will lately, however, and carries a 94.6 QB rating with eight touchdown passes and three interceptions. Still, he should be used as a backup only in fantasy leagues.
Ahmad Brooks, LBTuesday 12/2, 2:15 PM CT
The 49ers have re-signed Ahmad Brooks, according to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat. The club waived receiver Chris Hannon as the adjoining move.

Our View:He could make his season debut Sunday against the Jets, but would not likely be fantasy worthy as a backup.
