Newsbreakers
Durant Brooks, PMonday 10/13, 10:09 PM CT
The Washington Redskins will likely cut rookie punter Durant Brooks, as they will bring in punters for auditions Tuesday, according to the Washington Post.

Our View:Brooks was horrendous on Sunday against St. Louis, including one that went a pathetic 26 yards. He is last in the NFL with a net average of just 32.1 yards.
Leigh Torrence, CBMonday 10/13, 7:25 PM CT
Redskins cornerback Leigh Torrence was taken down with a forearm by Rams coach Jim Haslett during punt coverage, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “He was going to run me over or I was going to get him. I got a good shot on him. You see those coaches that get toppled. That wasn’t going to be me. He’s not that big. It’s no big deal,” said Haslett.

Our View:You have to love that fire from a coach, no matter who you root for. Former Rams coach Scott Linehan would have probably let Torrence run him over.
Chris Samuels, TMonday 10/13, 11:54 AM CT
Chris Samuels was unable to run with teammates during conditioning work today and could miss practice time this week with a sprained knee, according to the Washington Post. Samuels said he did not require further tests and is able to walk with a slight limp. He added, "I think I'm fine. It's a mild sprain."

Our View:He will get treatment and be evaluated throughout the week heading into Sunday's battle against Cleveland. Samuels is still an elite left tackle and the anchor of the Redskins' offensive line.
