October 7, 2008 Peter Schaefer was put on waivers, and should he clear, he will be sent to the minor leagues, according to the Providence Journal. Also, the team put Nate Thompson and Jeremy Reich on waivers, but will be sent to the minors, Matt Hunwick has been assigned to the minors, and forward Carl Soderberg has been assigned to his club in Sweden.
Our View:The team is trying to trade Schaefer and his $2.1 million salary. He had an average season last year, tallying just 26 points, which is not enough for someone with that type of salary.
October 5, 2008 The Boston Herald reports the Bruins are trying to trade Peter Schaefer, who is due $2.1 million this season. If Blake Wheeler makes the team, the team will likely have to waiver Schaefer.
Our View:There is probably not much interest in Schaefer's services considering his mediocre 2007-08 season.
February 21, 2008 Peter Schaefer was held out of Wednesday's win, his sixth straight absence from the lineup, notes Boston.com. Schaefer is suffering from a leg injury and currently isn't expected to receive much ice time or fantasy value moving forward.
