Our View:The 28-year-old has reportedly stopped drinking and is looking for a fresh start, but may not challenge 20 goals again while working on a lower line if he makes the club. Bell scored a career-best 25 goals with Chicago back in 2005.
August 21, 2008 Mark Bell has completed serving his work release program after pleading no contest to charges of a hit-and-run and driving under the influence in 2006, according to the Toronto Star.
Our View:"I was just like anybody else who made a mistake. I was treated like everybody else," Bell said yesterday. "I was afforded a lot of humility. I think I'm a better person for it." Bell should return to be a regular on the Maple Leafs this season.
