Blues center Andy McDonald suffered a fractured ankle and will probably be out a minimum of eight weeks, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View:This is a significant blow to the Blues, and their already slim playoff changes. It is a similarly difficult blow for fantasy owners who were reaping the rewards of his six goals and 12 assists through the team's first 16 games.

Our View:There is no word on exactly how long McDonald will be out, but it's likely going to be a number of weeks, at least.

Our View:There is no word on the severity of McDonald's injury, and it would be a shame if he is out for an extended period of time, as he has given fantasy owners 18 points in 16 games this season.

Andy McDonald was solid for the Blues on Friday, as he scored two goals on special teams. He had a shorthanded goal to get the scoring started and finished Chicago off with a power play goal in over time.

Our View:McDonald now has 18 points in 15 games for the Blues. The only negative in his game is he's now a (-11).

Our View:McDonald now has 14 points for the Blues in 12 games.

Center Andy McDonald's contract expires after this season, and the St. Louis Blues are interested in bringing him back, though they cannot talk with him about an extension until Jan. 1, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I would think he enjoys the situation here in St. Louis, so when the timing is appropriate, we'll discuss things," Blues President John Davidson said.

Our View:McDonald is among the league leaders in the NHL with 12 points (1 goal, 11 assists), and he is a quality fantasy hockey option.

Andy McDonald continues to rack up points during exhibition play. On Wednesday he had a goal and two assists in the Blues 7-3 win over Toronto.

Our View:McDonald is having as good a preseason as anyone and is clearly comfortable on a line with Brad Boyes and Lee Stempniak. Expect a much bigger fantasy contribution from him this season.

Three nights after registering five assists in a game, Andy McDonald showed that he could score as well. He had one goal in a 4-3 SO loss to Toronto on Monday.

Our View:McDonald looks more comfortable heading the Blues' second unit so far in the preseason. Lee Stempniak and David backes will likely be his linemates in the coming season.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Andy McDonald had five assists on Friday as the Blues scored nine goals on the Thrashers. “There were a lot of positives, but you certainly don’t want to get too excited about that,” McDonald said. “You look at the lineup we had dressed and the lineup they had dressed . . . we just want to take some positives from it and realize we’ve still got a lot of hard work ahead of us. There’s a lot of confidence in this room about our ability.”

Our View:McDonald figures to play in between Lee Stempniak and Brad Boyes on St. Louis' top line. They combined for 12 points on Friday night.

The Anaheim Ducks are looking for a center after dealing Andy McDonald to the St. Louis. His replacement, Doug Weight, is leaving on fairly bad terms after disputes over his playing time.

Our View:Possible candidates include Markus Naslund and Brendan Morrison, who both played for Ducks GM Brian Burke during his time in Vancouver.
