November 10, 2008 The NHL slapped Tom Kostopoulos with a three-game suspension Monday for hitting Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Mike Van Ryn from behind during a game Saturday night, according to the AP. Van Ryn stayed was removed on a stretcher after suffering a concussion, broken nose and broken bone in his hand. He’s expected to be out at least a month.
Our View:Kostopoulos has 33 PIM but few other statistics to warrant any type of fantasy consideration.
April 24, 2008 Tom Kostopoulos scored his third goal of the playoffs on Thursday, an OT game-winner for the Habs in their 4-3 victory over the Flyers in Game 1 of the second round.
Our View:That's three goals in eight playoff games for a guy who scored just seven times in 67 games this season. In fact, over the last four seasons he has never scored more than nine goals, so this unforeseen offensive production is a huge bonus for the Habs.
