Cam Ward won the Conn Smythe trophy as the most valuable player in the playoffs Monday night. Ward, who wasn't even Carolina's No. 1 goalie at the beginning of the postseason, wound up winning more games in the playoffs (15) than he did as a back up during the regular season (14).

Cam Ward, who replaced Martin Gerber in the second period of Game 5, started Game 6 for the Hurricanes on Tuesday night, according to the AP. Ward allowed one goal on 26 shots as Carolina won in overtime, 2-1.

Although Cam Ward didn't look good last night, as the Devils smoked the Hurricanes 5-1, he's expected to be back in goal to start tonight's game, according to the News & Observer. Ward was pulled early in the second period, as he failed to become the only goalie ever to win his first eight playoff starts.

Hurricanes coach Peter Laviolette is so confident in Cam Ward right now that he dubbed the rookie the starting goalie for Game 2 tonight, according to the News-Observer. Laviolette rarely announces anything regarding his lineups before game time. "I can tell you Cam will start the next game, coming off a shutout," Laviolette said.
