Our View:Sillinger won't have any fantasy value for a while yet, as he's still not close to returning.
October 7, 2008 The AP reports that Mike Sillinger has been placed on injured reserve after undergoing microfracture surgery on his right hip during the offseason.
Our View:The 37-year-old appeared in 52 games, tallying 14 goals and 12 assists last season. He may be worth a look later in the season on the waiver wire but should be avoided in the draft.
September 12, 2008 Newsday indicates that Mike Sillinger may not be healthy in time for the start of the 2008 campaign. He is still recovering from microfracture surgery on his hip. He said, "There's pain in the joint. I have to work with it to get back the mobility. The stuff that hurts is the side-to-side movement and the shooting and opening up."
Our View:The 37-year-old vet holds very little fantasy value, but is a key member of the Islanders while anchoring the checking line.
