The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Fred Brathwaite cleared waivers on Saturday. The Thrashers then assigned him to their AHL affiliate in Chicago.

The Thrashers likely will send Fred Brathwaite to their AHL affiliate in Chicago in the next couple of days, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Kari Lehtonen and Johan Hedberg will be the team's active netminders when the season begins.
