Newsbreakers
November 29, 2008
Andrew Brunette had a goal and two assists in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Predators.

Our View:Brunette has 15 points in 22 games this year, but his (-2) rating is a bit of a detractor to his fantasy value.
November 26, 2008
Andrew Brunette scored his seventh goal of the year on Wednesday night but the Wild feel to the Stars 4-3.

Our View:The goal was the first for Brunette since November 13. He had gone four games without registering even an assist.
November 6, 2008
Andrew Brunette scored a goal, his fourth of the year, in his first game in Denver as a visitor after spending the past three years with the Avalanche.

Our View:Brunette has five goals through 12 games and he continues to operate as an under the cover offensive option who makes an excellent second tier option on the left wing.
October 27, 2008
Andrew Brunette scored a goal, his third of the year, and dished out an assist, his fourth, in the Wilds' seventh game of the young season.

Our View:Brunette should continue to function as a nice depth play off the left wing who will add just enough goals and power-play production to be on a roster in all but the shallowest of fantasy leagues.
September 28, 2008
The AP reports that Andrew Brunette's shootout goal gave the Minnesota Wild a 2-1 preseason win over the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night. Brunette, who tied the game with a goal with 2:57 left in regulation, scored on the Wild’s fourth attempt on Sabres goalie Patrick Lalime.

Our View:Brunette is one of the best players on the Wild and expects to do even better than he did last season with Colorado when he tallied 59 points, including 40 assists.
July 1, 2008
Andrew Brunette has played his last game for Colorado as he chose to sign a 3-year, $7 million deal to join the Minnesota Wild, according to TSN.

Our View:Brunette played for the Wild from 2001-04 before heading to Colorado for three years. Though he slumped to 18 goals last season, Brunette figures to see a lot of power-play time and could team with Marian Gaborik and newly acquired Marek Zidlicky to form one heck of a unit with the man advantage.
June 29, 2008
Andrew Brunette is believed to be interested in heading back to Minnesota to play for the Wild, according to the Star-Tribune. Brunette said, "I have nothing but great memories in Minnesota, and it's an organization that's real close to my heart and a place where I loved to play. I don't know what their interest level is. But if they're interested and it falls into place, if everything was comparable, if they were in range, definitely, that's one place I'd love to play."

Our View:Brunette averaged 68.3 points over his three seasons with the Avalanche, and averaged 54.6 over his three seasons with the Wild. He wants to rejoin Minnesota, but wouldn't hold as much fantasy value as he did during his tour of duty with Colorado, unless Brian Rolston doesn't come to an agreement to re-sign with the Wild.
June 25, 2008
Andrew Brunette's agent said that he has yet to speak with the Avalanche about keeping the 34 year old forward in the fold, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:Brunette will be an unrestricted free agent on July 1st, and after scoring 19 goals and 59 points last year, coupled with his previous success, one would think there would be a long line of suitors looking to sign the gritty forward.
June 12, 2008
Andrew Brunette underwent shoulder surgery two weeks ago to remove som debris that caused him discomfort during the season, according to the Rocky Mountain News. He wants to re-sign with the team but is yet to hear from them. He said he is seeking "maybe a little more" than the $1.6 million he made in 2007-08.

Our View:He played in all 82 games for the fifth season in a row, and led Colorado with five goals in 10 playoff games in 2007-08.
June 10, 2008
Colorado has not discussed a new contract with Andrew Brunette, and he can become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, according to the Denver Post.

Our View:The 34-year old winger was Colorado's second-leading scorer in 2007-08 with 59 points over 82 games. That was a 24-point decrease in production from 2006-07, and his contract requirements might be too high for a player on the decline.
April 29, 2008
The Colorado Avalanche may be nearing the end of their playoff rope, suffering a tough 4-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings who now lead the Western Conference semifinal series 3-0. Winger Andrew Brunette did his best to keep the Avs in contention, scoring two goals on just two shots on goal, his first points of this series.

Our View:Brunette was a force for the Avs in the regular season but has been fairly quiet in these playoffs. The team has to hope tonight's surge gets him back on track, for they need all the help they can get.
