Buffalo claims Ellis off waivers Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - The Buffalo Sabres claimed left wing Matt Ellis
off waivers from the Los Angeles Kings on Wednesday.
Ellis split last season with Detroit and Los Angeles and totaled three goals
and five assists in 54 contests.
Over three seasons in the NHL, the 27-year-old Ellis has appeared in 70 games
and has three goals and five assists along with 32 penalty minutes.
He started last season with Detroit, but was claimed off waivers by the Kings

Teppo Numminen, who played only one game last season because of heart surgery, has re-signed with the Sabres on a one year, $1.1 million deal, according to the Associated Press.
Our View:Numminen, a 40 year old defensemen, has long been a reliable defender, though no longer one who is fantasy relevant. Take stock of how her performs in the preseason before you even consider rostering him this year.
Tyler Bouck has been signed to an undisclosed contract by the Sabres, according to TSN.
Our View:The 28-year-old notched 11 goals, 18 assists and 86 penalty minutes over 79 games while working as the captain of the Portland Pirates of the AHL last season. The former second-round pick of the Stars (1998) has only recorded four goals and eight assists over 91 career games with the Canucks. He is not expected to make an impact with the Sabres next season.
Mathieu Darche has left the Lightning as he signed a deal with the Sabres, according to the AP. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Our View:Darche contributed seven goals and 15 assists over 73 games with Tampa Bay last season. The 31-year-old winger is not expected to be fantasy worthy with his new club.
