Backstrom, power play fuel Wild win over Blues
St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - Coming off a career-worst performance in his last outing, Niklas Backstrom turned aside all 22 shots he faced to record his third shutout of the season, as the Minnesota Wild blanked the St. Louis Blues, 4-0, at the Xcel Energy Center.

Eric Belanger and Marek Zidlicky both registered a goal and an assist for the Wild, who have won four of their last six games.

Backstrom allowed a career-high six goals on 26 shots and was yanked after the second period in Monday's 6-5 setback to Colorado, but rebounded to post his 12th career whitewash.More...

Sean Hill will leave the Wild and the NHL to play in Switzerland, according to TSN. The defenseman inked a one-year contract with Swiss club Biel. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Mark Parrish, WThursday 7/31, 8:37 PM CT
The Nashville Predators may be interested in acquiring the services of forward Mark Parrish, according to The Tennessean.

Our View:Parrish did not have a great year in Minnesota last season, but if he finds the right club, his offensive skills mean he could certainly be of use in fantasy leagues.
Mark Parrish, WWednesday 7/30, 9:39 AM CT
Mark Parrish has been placed on waivers by the Wild, according to TSN.

Our View:Parrish scored 35 goals over two campaigns with Minnesota, and was strictly waived as a casualty of the NHL salary cap.
