Rinne gets first career shutout as Predators top Sabres
Buffalo, NY (Sports Network) - Pekka Rinne recorded his first career shutout as Nashville scored twice in the third period for a 2-0 win over Buffalo at HSBC Arena.

Rinne, who was a perfect 3-0-0 entering the game, stopped all 30 shots he faced while Jason Arnott and J.P. Dumont tallied for the Predators, who have won three of five including three in a row on the road.

The whitewash was sweet revenge for Nashville, which had been outscored by a 15-6 margin by Buffalo in the last two meetings, an 8-4 road setback on February 27, 2008 and a 7-2 home defeat on D... More...

Newsbreakers
Martin Gelinas, WThursday 8/7, 8:24 AM CT
Martin Gelinas is not likely to re-sign with the Predators, according to the Tennessean. GM David Poile said, "I wish we had a position for him because he's good as a fourth-line guy, with penalty-killing and leadership. But right now we have those guys. You never say never, but it's a long shot."

Our View:The Predators like his leadership qualities, but don't presently see a spot on the roster for him.
Jan Hlavac, WThursday 8/7, 8:20 AM CT
Jan Hlavac has left the Predators and the NHL to join Linkopink of the Swedish Elite League, according to the Tennessean.

Our View:The Predators offered him a one-year deal, but at less money than he felt he was worth. He only scored 12 goals and 23 assists over 80 games last season, and was not going to be fantasy worthy if he re-signed with Nashville.
Alexander Radulov, WWednesday 8/6, 10:27 PM CT
An International Ice Hockey Federation ruling on whether forward Alexander Radulov must play for the Predators or Salavat Yulaev Ufa of Russia should be made in about two weeks, according to The Tennessean.

Our View:Radulov, 22, signed a three-year deal worth $13M tax-free with the Continental Hockey League team even though he has a year remaining on his contract with Nashville. The NHL and the CHL reached an agreement last month to honor each other's contracts, but Salavat Yulaev Ufa contends it signed Radulov two days before the leagues struck their deal.
