Flyers ink first-round pick Sbisa Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers signed defenseman
Luca Sbisa to an entry-level contract on Wednesday. Per club policy, terms of
the deal were not disclosed.
"We consider Luca a good, young prospect for us," said Flyers general manager
Paul Holmgren. "We are happy to have it done. He has continued to play well
for us through training camp. The fact he is still here (in training camp)
shows that we think very highly of him, and at the end of the day, we will do
what we feel is right for the organization and what we feel is right for the

Steve Downie was benched after making two crucial turnovers (that led to goals) in consecutive games of the Eastern Conference Finals last May, but is looking forward to a fresh start next season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Downie said, "I haven't thought the turnovers at all. You don't want to keep negativity in your head."
Our View:He only scored six goals last season, but the team likes his toughness, as he also racked up 73 penalty minutes. His production should go up next season and he could be worthy of a late-round pick, especially in leagues that award points for penalty minutes.
Joffrey Lupul has signed a four-year extension with the Philadelphia Flyers, according to TSN.com. Lupul was a 20-goal scorer a year ago.
Our View:Lupul had 26 assists to go with his 20 goals, scoring 46 points in just 56 games. He has the potential to put up big numbers over an 82-game season and fantasy owners should take note.
