Flyers center Briere out 4-5 weeks Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Flyers center Daniel Briere
will miss the next four to five weeks with a groin strain.
Briere left Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning after
taking a hit in the second period. Prior to that contest, he had missed 14
of the previous 16 games with a series of injuries.
In only nine games played this season, Briere has five goals and four assists

Steve Downie was benched after making two crucial turnovers (that led to goals) in consecutive games of the Eastern Conference Finals last May, but is looking forward to a fresh start next season, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. Downie said, "I haven't thought the turnovers at all. You don't want to keep negativity in your head."
Our View:He only scored six goals last season, but the team likes his toughness, as he also racked up 73 penalty minutes. His production should go up next season and he could be worthy of a late-round pick, especially in leagues that award points for penalty minutes.
Joffrey Lupul has signed a four-year extension with the Philadelphia Flyers, according to TSN.com. Lupul was a 20-goal scorer a year ago.
Our View:Lupul had 26 assists to go with his 20 goals, scoring 46 points in just 56 games. He has the potential to put up big numbers over an 82-game season and fantasy owners should take note.
