NEWSBREAKERS NASCAR
Biffle expects to re-signFriday 6/13, 8:39 PM CT
Greg Biffle told the media at Michigan International Speedway that he expects to re-sign with Roush-Fenway Racing and has canceled an international trip to iron out the details.

Our View: Sponsorship is expected to come from 3M and terms have obviously not been announced, but this team has been running strong lately and this can only help their performance.
N'Wide Update: practice rescheduled at KYFriday 6/13, 8:10 PM CT
NASCAR has added one practice session to the Nationwide schedule for the Meijer 300. This will allow the Nationwide Regulars such as David Stremme to get a leg up on the competition.

Our View: The practice is scheduled to start at 10 am eastern time and will last for an hour and a half. The Nationwide Regulars will once more have a chance to close the gap on the more experienced Claim Jumpers.
N'Wide: Kentucky practice canceledFriday 6/13, 6:09 PM CT
Both practice sessions at Kentucky Speedway have been rained out, which will benefit veteran drivers. Now points' leader Clint Bowyer and the remainder of the Claim Jumpers will be on an equal footing in terms of track time.

Our View: The Nationwide Regulars should have been able to get a head start over their more experienced competitors, but Mother Nature wouldn't cooperate. Still, these lesser known drivers have been holding their own in recent weeks.
Leffler, Raines go homeFriday 6/13, 3:28 PM CT
The rain was a blessing for some of the drivers who will start near the front of the pack, but it was a detriment to Jason Leffler and Tony Raines. Those drivers will go home without attempting to qualify.

Our View: Of course, they were also the slowest in practice so even if qualification was completed they were in jeopardy of missing the race. The remainder of the "go-or-go-home" drivers will roll off from the back of the pack.
Qualification rained outFriday 6/13, 3:25 PM CT
Qualification has been rained out for the LifeLock 400, which means the field will be set by points. That puts Kyle Busch on the pole.

Our View: That gives Busch his best career start on this track. Last year he qualified third for this race and earned a sixth-place finish.
Eight men in: MichiganFriday 6/13, 2:38 PM CT
It's currently raining at Michigan International Speedway and if qualification is rained out, the following drivers will be in the LifeLock 400: Terry Labonte, Bill Elliott, Michael Waltrip, A.J. Allmendinger, J.J. Yeley, Dario Franchitti, Joe Nemechek and Patrick Carpentier.

Our View: That means Jason Leffler in the No. 70 and Tony Raines in the No. 34 would have to go home. However, these two drivers were the slowest in practice as well, so it might not matter if the track gets dried.
Johnson tops LifeLock 400 Practice 1Friday 6/13, 1:14 PM CT
Jimmie Johnson posted the fastest single lap at Michigan at 184.308 mph. That lap was set late in the session.

Our View: Johnson ran only seven laps in this session and was undoubtedly working on qualification trim only.
