Almirola fulltime in 2009?Monday 6/23, 1:43 PM CT
With rumors that Mark Martin might replace Casey Mears in the No. 5 next year, DEI is reporting they would like to get Aric Almirola into a fulltime ride next year to contend for Rookie of the Year (ROTY) honors.

Our View: The choice seems to be largely sponsor driven in attempt to keep the US Army on board. His youth and Hispanic ethnicity is appealing to their recruiting efforts, but he has proved capable of running up front on occasion.
Martin to replace Mears?Monday 6/23, 12:27 PM CT
ESPN is speculating that Casey Mears possible release from Hendrick Motorsports next year might make way for Mark Martin to join the organization for one more fulltime bid for the Cup championship.

Our View: This would come as some surprise, since Martin has been somewhat up front about enjoying his part time status.
Kenseth climbs into top 12Monday 6/23, 11:21 AM CT
Matt Kenseth earned a rare road course top-10 finish at Infineon with his eighth in the Toyota / SaveMart 350k and climbed back into the top 12 in points.

Our View: Kenseth fell out of the top 12 and Chase contention in week six at Martinsville and was once as low as 22nd. It appeared impossible that he should climb back this high, but he's done so on the back of six straight top-10s.
McDowell top Infineon rookieMonday 6/23, 10:11 AM CT
With a 21st-place finish, Michael McDowell took Rookie of the Race honors at Infineon for the third time this season.

Our View: This was McDowell's career best finish, which should come as no surprise given his experience in sports cars prior to coming to Cup.
Burton's extends streak to 22Monday 6/23, 12:07 AM CT
Jeff Burton finished 13th at Infineon, and in doing so, he extended his top-15 streak to 22 consecutive races.

Our View: It didn't look good for a while but as other in front of him crashed in the final, frenetic laps, Burton inched forward.
