Ambrose, Raines go homeFriday 6/27, 5:34 PM CT
Marcos Ambrose and Tony Raines were the two drivers who failed to qualify for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 and their teams will head home early.

Our View: With or without the rain, the No. 34 was headed to the house, but Ambrose certainly wished officials had not been able to dry the track.
Carpentier wins NH pole!Friday 6/27, 5:29 PM CT
Patrick Carpentier shocked the Lenox Industrial Tools 301 field and will roll off the grid from the top spot. His speed was 129.776 mph.

Our View: Carpentier has qualified for every race with traditional time trials, but no one thought he could win the pole. Don't expect him to stay there for long, but a better than average result could be in the cards.
Newman to join Stewart?Friday 6/27, 4:43 PM CT
Ryan Newman has been tossed into the same rumor as Tony Stewart. At least one Web site is reporting that he will run the second Haas-CNC car with backing from Burger King.

Our View: That makes as much sense as anything else. It would offer a little symmetry to have two former open wheelers on the same team.
Stewart to Haas-CNC?Friday 6/27, 4:39 PM CT
The rumor mill has Tony Stewart already moving to Haas-CNC and this time, they are even naming a sponsor. He will supposedly be backed by Office Depot.

Our View: This team has been respectable in a handful of races during the past two seasons, but the injection of money would certainly go a long way to improving their performance. Chevrolet is also involved in the rumor, as they are reported to have bought out Stewart's JGR contract.
Biffle extends contractFriday 6/27, 4:31 PM CT
Greg Biffle has signed a three-year extension to his Roush-Fenway Racing contract that will see him racing there until the end of the 2011 season.

Our View: Roush has only one more season in which they can campaign five teams, so this puts pressure on Jamie McMurray and David Ragan.
Rain interrupts NH qualsFriday 6/27, 2:58 PM CT
Rain has interrupted qualification at New Hampshire after 24 cars took time. Reed Sorenson had the provisional pole with a speed of 128.828 mph.

Our View: Track position is important on this track, so if qualification is canceled, this is bad news for the driver of the No. 41.
N'Wide: Stremme fastest in HHFriday 6/27, 2:03 PM CT
David Stremme posted the fastest speed in Happy Hour practice for the Camping World RV Sales 200, with a speed of 127.197 mph.

Our View: Stremme was very happy with his car at the end of that session and believes the team will make only minor changes to accommodate the weather on Saturday.
Harvick leads first practiceFriday 6/27, 12:35 PM CT
Kevin Harvick posted the single fastest lap in the morning practice session for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301, with a speed of 128.697 mph.

Our View: His fast lap was impressive, but he also seemed to be working on race trim, which makes him a driver to watch this weekend.
N'Wide: Bowyer fastest in P1Friday 6/27, 10:54 AM CT
Clint Bowyer posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session for the Camping World RV Sales 200 with a speed of 126.664 mph.

Our View: The Claim Jumpers are back in force, but Bowyer managed to stay at the top of the charts, proving he has the point lead for a reason.
Mears out at HMS in 2009Friday 6/27, 8:56 AM CT
It's official: Casey Mears will not be back in the No. 5 next year. He will finish out the 2008, however.

Our View: Hendrick Motorsports has not announced a driver for 2009, but the rumor mill has Mark Martin and Brad Keselowski sharing the ride next year.
