CGR shuts down No. 40Tuesday 7/1, 4:50 PM CT
Due to a lack of sponsorship, Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) has shut down the No. 40 car, beginning this week with Coke Zero 400 at Daytona. That will leave Dario Franchitti without a ride.

Our View: Rumor has it that he will compete in the Nationwide series, which could include the balance of the season. He may also take over the Reed Sorenson ride in 2009.
Stewart crash-prone on plate tracksTuesday 7/1, 12:33 PM CT
There is no doubt about Tony Stewart's skill on the plate tracks, but that might not make him a good value this week. He's been slowed or stopped by crash damage in five of his last seven Cup plate races at Daytona and 'Dega.

Our View: Luck plays an important role in this sport, although it is difficult to predict.
Almirola beats rookie classTuesday 7/1, 10:43 AM CT
With a 23rd-place finish in the Lenox Industrial Tools 301, Aric Almirola was the best Young Gun for the second time this year, but since he is not officially running for Rookie of the Year (ROTY) honors, he was not awarded the Rookie of the Race title.

Our View: Almirola is also the only Young Gun to finish in the top 10 this year with his eighth at Martinsville—a similarly short, flat track.
