NEWSBREAKERS NASCAR
Cup HH also scrubbedThursday 7/3, 7:48 PM CT
Happy Hour for the Coke Zero 400 was also scrubbed by rain, which limited the teams to a single hour and half session, during which Jamie McMurray posted the quickest average speed at 186.34 during 15 laps.

Our View: If practice is going to be rained out anywhere, however, the plate tracks are a good place since drivers tend to roll off the truck with as much speed as they will ever have.
Truex's primary car confiscatedThursday 7/3, 7:45 PM CT
Martin Truex Jr. lost his primary car for the Coke Zero 400 when officials found something questionable about the roof.

Our View: The worst news was that it took so long to prepare the backup that the team was unable to get on course during the first practice session and when Happy Hour was rained out, this car does not have a single lap on track.
N'Wide HH scrubbedThursday 7/3, 6:03 PM CT
Happy Hour has been canceled for the Nationwide series, which leaves Clint Bowyer on top of the leaderboard.

Our View: Veteran drivers are at a premium when practice is abbreviated, so heavily season your roster with Claim Jumpers.
Kahne fastest in Cup P1Thursday 7/3, 4:28 PM CT
Kasey Kahne posted the fastest single lap in the first practice session, with a top speed of 189.143 mph.

Our View: Kurt Busch actually posted a faster lap, but he destroyed his primary car. Kahne's speed is not a big surprise in that he has the best three-year average finish on this track.
Ku Busch crashes in P1Thursday 7/3, 4:02 PM CT
Kurt Busch cut a tire coming out of turn 2 and slammed the wall. He will be forced into a backup before Happy Hour and for qualification.

Our View: Busch was one of our favorites for this race, and while this is certainly a set back, his backup is probably almost as stout.
N'Wide: Bowyer tops Daytona P1Thursday 7/3, 2:58 PM CT
Clint Bowyer posted the fastest speed in the first practice session of the Winn-Dixie 250 at 184.691 mph.

Our View: Two Nationwide Regulars, David Stremme and Jason Leffler were next in line, proving that the restrictor-plate superspeedways are democratic in nature.
