In the event qualification is rained out, the following eight drivers from among those outside the top 35 in owner points would make the show: Terry Labonte, Bill Elliott, Scott Riggs, A.J. Allmendinger, J.J. Yeley, Joe Nemechek, Patrick Carpentier and Jason Leffler in the No. 70.
Our View: That would leave Johnny Sauter in the No. 08 and Tony Raines in the No. 34 as the drivers to go home. |

Jacques Villeneuve could run a Robby Gordon Nationwide car at Montreal if the driver can provide some sponsorship. Regardless, Gordon will be sending a car to the event.
Our View: This report also has Villeneuve potentially running a second Gordon car in 2009, but given this team's difficulty in find sponsorship for the primary car this season, that rumor sounds like a bit of a stretch. |

As expected, NASCAR has imposed a heavy fine on the No. 1 Martin Truex Jr. team, docking them 150 points, suspension of crew chief Kevin Manion, car chief Gary Putnam and a $100,000 monetary fine.
Our View: This seriously impacts their chances of making the Chase by dropping then No. 1 car to 18th in the standings, 238 markers behind 12th-place Tony Stewart. |
