NEWSBREAKERS NASCAR
N'Wide: Ky Busch wins ChicagolandFriday 7/11, 9:25 PM CT
It's become predictable: Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) and Kyle Busch won the Dollar General 300 for his fifth Nationwide series race of the season.

Our View: That was the 14th victory for Toyota, 13 of which belong to Gibbs. The next closest manufacturer is Chevrolet with four.
Edwards wins Chicagoland HHFriday 7/11, 6:25 PM CT
In Happy Hour for the LifeLock.com 400, Carl Edwards posted both the fastest lap of 174.070 mph and the quickest average speed of 169.304 during 35 laps.

Our View: That gives Edwards a great balance of speed and durability and makes him one of the favorites for Saturday's race.
To the back: NemechekFriday 7/11, 5:17 PM CT
Joe Nemechek blew his engine half way through the second practice session for the LifeLock.com 400. He will have to go to the back of the grid to start on Saturday night.

Our View: Of course, he's lined up only 39th to begin with, so he doesn't have far to go and he wasn't highly valued before this.
Harvick quickest in Chicago P2Friday 7/11, 5:13 PM CT
Kevin Harvick posted the quickest average time in the second practice session at Chicago for the LifeLock.com 400 with a speed of 171.021 during only eight laps.

Our View: Harvick notoriously spends few laps in practice, but he may not need a lot of seat time at Chicagoland with two career victories and fourth-place finishes in his last two starts.
Johnson posts fast lap in Chicago P2Friday 7/11, 5:09 PM CT
Jimmie Johnson posted the single fastest lap in the second practice session for the Dollar General 300 with a speed of 176.177 mph.

Our View: His average speed of 170.584 during 20 laps was third best. This could be the week he gets his 2008 "cookie-cutter" season turned around.
Yeley spins in P2Friday 7/11, 4:24 PM CT
J.J. Yeley became the second casualty of a slick track and spun out during the second practice session.

Our View: Like Casey Mears, Yeley also seemed to have minimal damage, but since he is starting in the back already, it wouldn't matter much if he does have to roll out a backup.
Mears spins in P2Friday 7/11, 4:18 PM CT
Casey Mears scrapped the wall and spun in the second practice session for the Dollar General 300.

Our View: He didn't appear to do much damage, however, and should be able to take his spot on the grid.
N'Wide: Reutimann wins Chicago poleFriday 7/11, 4:18 PM CT
David Reutimann will lead an all Toyota front row to the green with a lap of 176.436 mph. He edged Tony Stewart in the No. 20.

Our View: The Toyotas have been unstoppable in the Nationwide series and they are going to be the class of the field again.
N'Wide: Hamlin struggles in qualsFriday 7/11, 4:10 PM CT
After posting a lap that was 20 mph off the pole, Denny Hamlin reported that he broke something in the rear and he will roll off from the back of the pack.

Our View: He was one of our favorites before this session and now he needs to be approached with caution.
