Truex re-sign with DEI – no reallyWednesday 8/6, 9:42 PM CT
This time it appears to be official. Martin Truex Jr. has re-signed with DEI, according to the Sporting News Wire Service, as reported on NASCAR.com.

Our View: ESPN tried to jump the gun last week and report this, which drew the ire of Truex. The details of the contract have not been disclosed but the emotion that this negotiation suggests that the team is still in need of some healing.
Yeley fired from No. 96Wednesday 8/6, 9:29 PM CT
J.J. Yeley will not return to the seat of the No. 96 Hall of Fame Racing Toyota according to NASCAR.com. This week, he will be replaced by road ringer P J Jones; beginning next week, Brad Coleman will be behind the wheel.

Our View: Coleman has served as a test driver for this team, so he knows the organization, but making races will be as tough for the 20-year-old since the No. 96 is 38th in the owner standings.
NASCAR says no to SmithWednesday 8/6, 2:23 PM CT
DEI has withdrawn their No. 81 entry that was to be raced by Regan Smith, after NASCAR clarified their rules. A fifth car can only be entered for a rookie driver, according to NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp as reported by SceneDaily.com.

Our View: The organization could have moved Aric Almirola into that car, but decided it was in everyone's best interest to allow the pre-rookie to have the No. 8's guaranteed starting position.
