It's official: Said in No. 45Friday 8/8, 5:42 PM CT
Boris Said apparently got Ford's approval to race in the No. 45 Petty Dodge. Due to the driver change, he will be forced to start shotgun on the field, but at least he will race.

Our View: Last year, Said finished in the top 15 for one of the legendary teams. On the heels of his ride in the Wood Bros. car, he will race for another legend: Petty Enterprises.
N'Wide: Harvick fastest in Glen practiceFriday 8/8, 3:57 PM CT
Kevin Harvick posted the fastest single lap in Nationwide practice at the Glen, with a speed of 121.117 mph.

Our View: Harvick is the defending winner of this race and should be considered a favorite to finish in the top-five again.
N'Wide: Cassill crashes in practiceFriday 8/8, 3:55 PM CT
As the rains began to fall over the end of Nationwide practice at Watkins Glen, Landon Cassill skidded off the road in turn one and wrinkled his Miccosukee Dodge.

Our View: Cassill finished 14th in this same car last week in Montreal and he is primarily looking to get extra seat time. Avoid him in the game, but watch him with interest.
Said in No. 45?Friday 8/8, 3:48 PM CT
Boris Said is talking to Kyle Petty about taking over the No. 45 on Sunday. The two drivers have agreed, but Said is still looking for approval from Ford to race the Dodge.

Our View: It's hard to imagine Ford saying no, so look for Said to get into the show. This car is liable to be less strong than his No. 60, however.
Nationwide cars on trackFriday 8/8, 2:07 PM CT
The Nationwide Series cars finally got onto the Watkins Glen circuit and Denny Hamlin jumped to the top of the grid with a speed of 118.159 mph.

Our View: Hamlin is in the same car that was capably driven by Jacques Villeneuve last week. Currently the track is dry and cars are on slick tires.
Watkins Glen qualification canceledFriday 8/8, 2:06 PM CT
NASCAR chose to cancel qualification at Watkins Glen for the third time in the last four years. This sends Boris Said's No. 60 home without turning a single lap.

Our View: The track is dry and Nationwide Series cars are on the track, which makes it seem that the series was a little quick to cancel this session.
Practice in rain delayFriday 8/8, 1:07 PM CT
It's raining in Watkins Glen, which has put all of the drivers in a holding pattern. This particularly affects Boris Said , who needs to qualify on time.

Our View: Said is the only significant driver who would miss the show if qualification is canceled, so Said-heads cross their collective fingers.
