Atlanta's Marvin Williams sprained his left (non-shooting) thumb in the team's exhibition win against the Bobcats, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: There is no immediate word on the extent of the injury, or how long Williams may be out.
Gasol has double-doubleMonday 10/13, 9:39 PM CT
Marc Gasol scored 14 points and grabbed 10 boards to go with four assists in Memphis' exhibition win over the Pacers.

Our View: Gasol could be a deep sleeper for fantasy owners at center, as Pau's brother certainly has the skills to succeed.
Ford scores 18Monday 10/13, 9:37 PM CT
T.J. Ford scored 18 points for the Pacers in their loss to the Grizzlies on Monday. He also had three assists and three rebounds.

Our View: Both Ford and Jarrett Jack played well Monday, as their battle for playing time continues. Jack did have four turnovers compared to Ford's two, however.
Mayo pours in 26Monday 10/13, 9:34 PM CT
O.J. Mayo scored 26 points on 10-of-17 shooting, and also pulled down four rebounds, dished out three assists and had five steals in Memphis' 103-95 win over Indiana.

Our View: These are the type of performances fantasy owners can expect from Mayo once out of every two or three games. Because he'll also have games like his previous one, in which he scored seven points and shot 3-for-11.
Felton has 11 dimesMonday 10/13, 8:45 PM CT
Raymond Felton had 11 assists while scoring six points, grabbing four boards and picking up three steals in their exhibition loss to the Hawks.

Our View: Should be an interesting battle between him and Augustin for the starting point guard spot. It is possible that they will simply split the minutes, with neither taking control of the position.
Johnson puts in 17Monday 10/13, 8:43 PM CT
Atlanta's Joe Johnson put home 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 3-of-6 from the three-point line in their exhibition win over the Bobcats.

Our View: Johnson also had two rebounds, two assists and a steal on the night. He is a solid option for fantasy owners, especially if he can raise his shooting percentages a bit.
Augustin fills up stat sheetMonday 10/13, 8:40 PM CT
Bobcats rookie D.J. Augustin had a full night, scoring 11 points, picking up six dimes, four boards and two steals in the team's 88-87 loss to Atlanta.

Our View: Those are the type of numbers you can get behind, but the 3-for-9 shooting was not pretty. It may take the rookie a while to become fantasy relevant, but it's nice to see he can do a lot of things.
Anthony returnsMonday 10/13, 6:11 PM CT
Nuggets forward Carmelo Anthony was back at the team's practice Monday and will play in their exhibition game on Wednesday, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Anthony was suffering from a bruised left hand. He was out for the team's initial preseason contest but should not miss any additional time.

Leandro Barbosa was back with the Phoenix Suns after he missed nearly two weeks to be with his ill mother, according to the East Valley Tribune.

Herrmann to miss Tuesday's game Monday 10/13, 2:44 PM CT
Walter Herrmann will miss Tuesday's preseason game against the Spurs due to sore ribs, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: He will be missing his fourth straight game, and the team is unclear when he will be ready to return. He holds no fantasy value, especially while missing valuable practice time.
Billups to miss Tuesday's game Monday 10/13, 2:40 PM CT
Chauncey Billups will miss Tuesday's game while nursing his sprained right ankle, according to the Detroit News.

Our View: The injury is not deemed serious, and he is considered day-to-day. Rodney Stuckey should see more playing time with Billups out of action.
Sixers to exercise option on Young Monday 10/13, 2:35 PM CT
The Sixers will exercise the third-year option on Thaddeus Young's contract, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Young was a first-round pick in the 2007 draft, going 12th overall.

Our View: Young has been performing well so far in the preseason, and the Sixers have seen enough to pick up his option.
Gordon remains out Monday 10/13, 12:39 PM CT
Ben Gordon was hoping to return to practice today, but unfortunately remains out due to his sore big toe, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Our View: He is learning a new system under coach Vinny Del Negro, and missing time hurts his chances for a favorable playing time at guard while competing with rookie Derrick Rose, Kirk Hinrich, Thabo Sefolosha, and Larry Hughes.
Rose misses practice Monday 10/13, 12:35 PM CT
Derrick Rose missed Monday's practice due to a death in his family, according to the Chicago Tribune.

McCants still has fluid on elbow Monday 10/13, 11:15 AM CT
Rashad McCants still has fluid on the elbow that he hyperextended Friday, according to the Star Tribune.

Our View: He missed Sunday's practice and is questionable for Tuesday's preseason game against Chicago. He is competing for a spot in the Wolves' rotation at guard. He averaged 14.9 points per game last season, while sinking 142 three-pointers.
Curry could return Tuesday Monday 10/13, 10:56 AM CT
Eddy Curry missed training camp and the first two preseason games due to a bacterial infection but is aiming to return to the court Tuesday night against the Sixers, according to the NY Post. He said, "I'm feeling great right now, and as of now, I feel like I could play Tuesday."

Our View: This is good news, but his role with the team remains in question. Zach Randolph and David Lee have excelled up front, and Curry still needs to learn new coach Mike D'Antoni's offense. He needs to get into playing shape as well.
Houston could remain out Monday 10/13, 10:50 AM CT
Allan Houston missed the first two preseason games, and could remain out for the next game as his sore right quad tightened up Sunday, according to the NY Post.

Our View: The 37-year-old is fighting for a roster spot and would likely struggle to keep up in coach Mike D'Antoni's fast-paced offense.
Conley turning heads Monday 10/13, 10:16 AM CT
Mike Conley has been turning heads during the preseason, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.

Our View: The 21-year-old has matured heading into his second NBA campaign. He is playing with more confidence and displaying the assertive behavior vital for a point guard in the up-tempo offensive system head coach Marc Iavaroni employs. He is making a strong case for the starting job at point guard, and is worthy of a late-round pick in fantasy drafts.
Blake set to resume practicing Monday 10/13, 10:11 AM CT
Steve Blake is expected to resume practicing Tuesday after missing a few weeks due to a hamstring injury, according to the Blazers' official website.

Our View: He is projected to start at point guard this season, but will likely rotate with Sergio Rodriguez and rookie Jerryd Bayless, hence cutting into his minutes and fantasy potential.
Dunleavy progressing Monday 10/13, 9:40 AM CT
Mike Dunleavy, who is dealing with tendinitis in his right knee, is getting close to healthy enough for practice, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View: Coach Jim O'Brien believes he will practice at some point this week. This is encouraging news, but Dunleavy will remain a risky fantasy option for 2008, as the ailment could linger and return over the course of the season.

Eddie Jones was traded from the Mavericks to the Pacers last week, but could retire rather than play for his new team, according to the Indianapolis Star.

Our View: Jones previously stated that he did not want to be traded to a team that wasn't a title contender, when there was speculation he was being shipped to New Jersey. He will turn 38 later this month, and will hold no fantasy value if he resumes his career with Indiana.
Mahinmi to miss rest of preseasonMonday 10/13, 8:05 AM CT
Ian Mahinmi is expected to miss the rest of the preseason due to his sprained ankle, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Yao shaking off rust Monday 10/13, 7:28 AM CT
Yao Ming seemed smoother and more effective offensively in his third preseason game than in his first two contests while shaking off the rust, according to the Houston Chronicle. He said, "I was more comfortable, but I had four turnovers and just three rebounds in 24 minutes. It’s never perfect. There is always something to do better. I won’t say I have a long way to go, but I have a way to go."

Our View: He looks to be in good shape by the start of the regular season, and should be drafted accordingly.
