NEWSBREAKERS NBA
Kobe ready for Game 5 but needs helpSaturday 6/14, 9:02 PM CT
The Lakers may be down 3-1 in their NBA Finals series with the Boston Celtics, but they have one more game at home and they have the best player on the court, and he wants you to know "The series ain't over. It's far from over." At least that's what Kobe Bryant is saying, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: The Lakers were holding practice today and you can bet the words for his failing teammates were much more pointed behind closed doors. It would be great to have Andrew Bynum right now, but the Lakers still have the roster to get this done. Game 5 comes tomorrow.
Rondo, Perkins both hampered for Game 5Saturday 6/14, 4:15 PM CT
As Game 5, a possible finale for the '07-'08 NBA season, draws near on Sunday, the Celtics have given reporters indication that guards Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo will be greatly hampered by injury, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Coach Doc Rivers proclaimed Perkins, nursing a strained left shoulder, has a 50-50 chance to play while Rondo is likely to make the game but has struggled to perform with a bruised bone in his left ankle.
Azubuike to become restricted free agentSaturday 6/14, 12:17 PM CT
Kelenna Azubuike has exercised an opt-out clause and will be a restricted free agent this summer, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Our View: The Warriors have a ton of roster work to do this summer, and Azubuike could slip through the cracks. He was a bit of a breakout player last November (13.5 ppg), but his minutes slipped as the season continued. We'd think the Warriors would like to keep him around.
Gallinari, Randolph hang in New YorkSaturday 6/14, 11:00 AM CT
The Knicks entertained Danilo Gallinari and Anthony Randolph in workouts on Friday. "That'd be perfect. That'd be great," Randolph tells the New York Post about the possibility of being picked by the Knicks.

Our View: Gallinari and Randolph are two of the more popular picks at the Knicks' No. 6 spot in mock drafts. The club would love to land one of the top guards (Derrick Rose, O.J. Mayo, or Jerryd Bayless), but they'll likely need to trade up to do so.
Team checking out prospectsSaturday 6/14, 10:54 AM CT
Next Monday and Tuesday, the Wolves will entertain a bunch of draft prospects. The list includes UCLA forward Kevin Love, Texas A&M big man DeAndre Jordan, and French forward Nicolas Batum, Ohio State center Kosta Koufos, and Nevada forward JaVale McGee, according to NBA.com.

Our View: Most of the guys on this list are expected to be available later in the first round or in the second round, with the exceptions of Love and Jordan. The Wolves hold the No. 3 pick, and we'd be surprised if it's one of the guys on this list.
