Kidd has plans for gold medal? Saturday 8/23, 1:40 PM CT
Jason Kidd has plans for his gold medal if the United States is victorious against Spain in the final in Beijing, according to the Arizona Republic. He promised to give his gold medal to Elaine Wynn, who is the wife of billionaire casino owner Steve Wynn. Kidd said, "No, it's not a gambling marker or anything like that. She's just a great friend and a really great person. Last summer, we stayed at the Wynn resort for a lifetime, close to three weeks. We met at a banquet, we got to talking, and she really understands the game. I told her I'd make a deal with her, that if we won the gold medal, I'd give it to her. She thought I was kidding. But I told her I had one already, and the way they treated us at the Wynn, it was the least I could do."

Our View: That is awfully generous of Kidd to part with an Olympic gold medal.
Wade praises Chalmers Saturday 8/23, 1:33 PM CT
Olympian Dwayne Wade praised new Heat teammate Mario Chalmers, according to the Sun-Sentinel. Wade said, "I really believe in our point guard, Mario Chalmers. I think he can be great for us and surprise a lot of people."

Our View: Chalmers fared well in the summer league, and has sleeper potential next season, going by Wade's positive endorsement.
Bulls re-sign Nichols Saturday 8/23, 10:31 AM CT
The Bulls have re-signed Demetris Nichols to a one-year partially guaranteed contract, according to the Daily Herald.

Our View: Nichols was the team's second-leading scorer at the Orlando summer league in July, averaging 13.6 points. He could provide favorable depth for the Bulls, but his fantasy value will be limited while working as a reserve.
Calderon likely out for Spain Saturday 8/23, 10:27 AM CT
Jose Calderon is likely to miss Spain's gold-medal game against the United States due to a partially torn adductor muscle, according to Yahoo Sports.

Our View: The injury is expected to sideline him for seven to 10 days. He should be fine for the next NBA campaign, but will be gravely missed by Spain in Beijing.
