Colon all but assured starting RT jobWednesday 7/30, 11:35 PM CT
Steelers’ offensive line coach Larry Zierlein all but declared Wednesday that Willie Colon will keep his starting job at right tackle, according to the Beaver County Times.

Our View: Zierlein did acknowledge that incumbent Sean Mahan and free agent acquisition Justin Hartwig will battle for the starting job at center, but it appears Max Starks is not likely to push for the starting honors over Colon as anticipated (despite the $7 million the Steelers will pay Starks this season).
Betts to miss preseason openerWednesday 7/30, 11:17 PM CT
The Washington Redskins report rusher Ladell Betts has been ruled out for Sunday's preseason opener against the Indianapolis Colts, according to RedskinReport.com.

Our View: Betts suffered an injury to his leg when he was kicked in the thigh during a practice on Wednesday and the team wants to proceed with caution in bring him back to action. The injury is not considered serious, but we will update as news comes forth.
Kearse held out, but no report whyWednesday 7/30, 11:14 PM CT
Veteran defensive end Jevon Kearse was dressed for practice today but was held out of activities for the second day in a row, though the Titans have failed to report a reason for his inactivity, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: At this point, it is unclear what to believe. The team may be masking an injury or may simply be taking it easy on the veteran pass rusher, hoping to encourage his health in the regular season. Until the team addresses it, there is reason for concer.
Bironas improvingWednesday 7/30, 11:11 PM CT
While the Titans continue to keep All Pro kicker Rob Bironas , who pulled a groin muscle Monday, out of practice, coach Jeff Fisher reports his condition is improving and there is no concern of prolonged time out of practice, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Bironas is one of the more underrated kickers in the league and should be on a fantay roster in your league. If he's on your squad, it sounds like he will be just fine.
Jags work out LiwienskiWednesday 7/30, 11:07 PM CT
With center Brad Meester out indefinitely due to a right biceps injury, the Jaguars worked out veteran guard Chris Liwienski on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press.

Our View: Liwienski started 14 games for Miami last year and has 93 starts the last seven seasons. Liwienski also spent time in Arizona and Minnesota. He played under current Jaguars assistant head coach Mike Tice with the Vikings, and thus he seems to have a slight edge to sign in Jacksonville. We'll keep you posted.
Favre offered $20 million to quitWednesday 7/30, 11:01 PM CT
According to the most recent report, the Green Bay Packers have proposed a deal with Brett Favre , offering the future Hall of Famer $20 million over the next ten years to retire now, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Our View: WTMJ-TV Channel 4 in Milwaukee, citing two sources, reported Wednesday that Packers president Mark Murphy at least floated the idea to Favre of paying him a package in the neighborhood of $20 million over 10 years to remain retired. Murphy met most of Wednesday with Favre and his agent, Bus Cook, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Murphy has refused comment and will not address the report.
Cowboys not looking to trade for SimmsWednesday 7/30, 10:52 PM CT
Contrary to recent rumors and reports, the Dallas Cowboys are not interested in adding disgruntled Tampa Bay passer Chris Simms , according to Star Telegram.

Our View: Owner Jerry Jones said there was "nothing there" when asked about the reports of the Dallas Cowboys talking to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers about a trade for former University of Texas quarterback Chris Simms. According to a source, even if the Cowboys have an interest in Simms, they would wait until the Buccaneers released him rather than trade for him.
Gore, Davis in question under MartzWednesday 7/30, 9:44 PM CT
While reports have funneled from San Francisco of the tremendous potential this team now holds under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Mike Martz, there are some who are wondering if the past is any indication that expectations should be tempered, according to ESPN.com. More to the point, there are some who wonder if the Niners' top offensive talents, running back Frank Gore and tight end Vernon Davis, will be lost in the shuffle.

Our View: Mike Sando of ESPN, tasked with covering the NFC West, notes Martz has never featured the tight end or running back in his schemes in the past, putting full emphasis on the pass. That would seem to put both Gore and Davis in a bad light, and Sando went as far as to contact Martz and ask him directly. Martz agreed with Sando's observations but feels he can get both weapons involved. He notes Davis is not likely to see a rise in the number of his receptions, but the scheme will enhance his average yards per catch. Meanwhile Martz envisions bigger receiving yards for Gore who will be used as a receiving option more often. We will see. Sando is right in stating the rushers and tight ends have not enjoyed great returns under Martz, and history suggests fantasy owners should proceed with caution.
Johnson ready to take the starting job for Titans?Wednesday 7/30, 9:33 PM CT
The more reports eminate from the Titans' training camp, the more we believe rookie rusher Chris Johnson is likely to carry the bulk of the load at running back. The most recent report indicates offensive coordinator Mike Heimerdinger is approaching Johnson as the team's primary rusher and envisions him working on 1st and 2nd down this season, according to the Tennessean.

Our View: Could we be seeing the end of LenDale White's opportunity in Tennessee? White came on last season but the new OC appears enamored with the rookie. If Johnson earns that role, you will see White in limited action, and as we've seen in the past, that is likely to be a problem. We'll keep you posted as this group takes form through training camp.
Detroit putting faith in rookie rusherWednesday 7/30, 9:21 PM CT
Reports from training camp in Detroit suggest the team is making a strong push to place offensive emphasis back on the run, putting full focus on the offensive line (namely rookie tackle Gosder Cherilus) and rookie rusher Kevin Smith , according to NFL.com.

Our View: Pat Kirwin reports the team is working to get the entire team behind the cause, giving extra work to one of the more worrisome offensive lines in the league as well as to Smith at running back. The teams feels Smith is a primary ball-carrying talent that can push this team to the next level and, with his early work and power-rushing style, is drawing many comparisons to Corey Dillon (especially from quarterback Jon Kitna, a former teammate of Dillon's). Kirwin notes his most impressive attribute is his ability to be patient and read the scheme in front of him, thus listing him as the most influential player in camp for Detroit this season.
Cason making big impression in San DiegoWednesday 7/30, 9:14 PM CT
The Chargers are excited about the early training-camp success for 1st-round draft pick Antoine Cason , according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Cason is working toward becoming the nickel cornerback for the Chargers, stating the difference between playing traditional cornerback and the nickel is troublesome. Cason has been a fast study. He looks natural on the practice field and has continued his college reputation as an interception machine into the Chargers camp. If he carries that talent and production into the season, he could be another surprise for fantasy owners seeking interception rewards in IDP leagues.
Russell back in practice, but his injury leaves questionsWednesday 7/30, 8:57 PM CT
Oakland Raiders QB JaMarcus Russell returned to the field on Wednesday and participated in a limited practice after missing Tuesday with elbow discomfort, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

Our View: Russell came out with his teammates wearing a protective long sleeve on his throwing arm. He took part in individual drills but retired for the day about halfway through practice. Andrew Walter and Marques Tuiasosopo are the only legitimate backup options in camp, and that leaves questions about depth. Walter is not a system fit for Kiffin's offense because of his limited mobility. Tuiasosopo is better geared for the rollouts but doesn't strike many as a starting quarterback after eight years of trying. As a result, we would not be surprised if the Raiders seek to find a veteran alternative as a backup if one should shake out due to release during training camp. We'll keep an eye on this situation.
Leftwich will not be signed by TitansWednesday 7/30, 8:42 PM CT
Earlier today we reported the Tennessee Titans will be welcoming former Jacksonville and Atlanta passer Byron Leftwich to work out in the days ahead, but updated reports indicate he is not going to be signed to a contract, according to ProFootballTalk.com.

Our View: Instead of offering Leftwich a spot on the roster, the Titans will use these practices to decide if they should add him to a so-called “ready list,” in the event that starter Vince Young suffers injury and the depth at the position falls short. It falls somewhere between the practice squad and having a spot on the sideline, none of which is guaranteed at this point anyway. He'll have to earn just this minor step forward, thus we have no reason to suggest Leftwich is a player to watch.
Runyan calls out AndrewsWednesday 7/30, 8:37 PM CT
Philadelphia tackle Shawn Andrews continues to avoid training camp as he deals with what the Eagles are calling "personal issues," but offensive line leader Jon Runyan is not accepting that excuse, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. “It’s not helping us and it’s not helping him sitting out,” Runyan said. “The longer he holds out, the longer it’ll be before he gets in there. So it’s going to be a tough situation. If you keep giving reps to the guy who’s backing you up, at some point, he’s going to pass you.”

Our View: You can bet Runyan is upset, coming off one of his worst seasons to date as the team failed to provide adequate protection for quarterback Donovan McNabb. Andrews is a big part of that effort, and while backup Max Jean-Gilles could someday turn into a worthy starter, we have not reached that day just yet. Runyan will give his full support to Andrews when he gets to camp, but it appears the stress of the current situation is causing ill will.
Payne, Taylor fighting for jobs in SeattleWednesday 7/30, 8:32 PM CT
Reports from Seattle indicate concerns are starting to grown about the receiving corps this team is attempting to formulate in training camp, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. Both Nate Burleson and Bobby Engram are inked into starting spots while Deion Branch remains lost to injury, but after that, there is nothing left but questions. Training camp reports indicate Logan Payne and Corutney Taylor appear to be earning the spot action that will come in relief of those top targets.

Our View: Payne is very intriguing, a talented force with underrated speed and soft hands. The Seahawks believe they can mentor him into becoming a starting commodity, but that will take time. If one of those starters fails to avoid injury (namely Branch who can't seem to stay away from injury since leaving New England), this unit could be in trouble.
Losman back at practiceWednesday 7/30, 8:18 PM CT
The Bills welcomed quarterback J.P. Losman back to practice today after missing time on the practice field with a jammed thumb, according to CBSSports.com.

Our View: Losman missed only one practice after jamming his right thumb when striking a teammate's helmet while attempting a pass in practice Monday. He's hoping to fight for attention though all indications point to Trent Edwards as the starter for the Bills this season.
Meachem pushing to steal job from injured HendersonWednesday 7/30, 8:03 PM CT
Reports from New Orleans training camp indicate one of the more intriguing position battles this season may be coming from the Saints' receiving corps, according to the Times-Picayune. According to the Times, both Marques Colston and David Patten have secured roles in the starting lineup, but lining up in the slot remains open to competition between Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem .

Our View: Henderson is injured and might not be back for a week or two, leaving a window of opportunity for Meachem to shine with the 1st-team offense. Early reports indicate Meachem is taking full advantage and is likely to earn, at the very least, a share of the workload among these top four guys. Meanwhile both Terrance Copper and Lance Moore are expected to focus on special teams until more options are needed behind those top receivers. We'll keep you posted on the battle between Meachem and Henderson as it could carry heavy implications for fantasy owners.
Del Rio tired of Harvey's outrageous demandsWednesday 7/30, 7:54 PM CT
The Jaguars have yet to sign rookie defensive end Derrick Harvey , the 8th-overall selection in this year's NFL Draft, to a contract, and coach Jack Del Rio is airing his resulting frustrations in the press, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Our View: Harvey is one of just two top draft picks (the other being Cincinnati's Keith Rivers) without a deal, and Del Rio reports the fault belongs to Harvey. According to the coach, Harvey's agent is making unreasonable demands and putting forth contract desires that fail to reach any sense of reality in terms of the numbers those drafted in the same area of the draft have accepted. As such, it appears the Jaguars are going to be without their top pick until further notice. We'll keep you posted.
NFL avoiding stance until Favre, Packers move forwardWednesday 7/30, 7:40 PM CT
An NFL spokesman has stated commissioner Roger Goodell has yet to take any action on quarterback Brett Favre's request to be in reinstated from retirement, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Per the official statement, "The commissioner is taking no action today. He wants to give both the Packers and Brett an appropriate amount of time to make decisions, including decisions impacting the team's roster and salary cap. When Brett is reinstated by the commissioner, we will announce it."

Our View: It is obvious Goodell is hoping this can be resolved. Having Favre in the league is a positive, but having him embattled with the franchise that each and every fan represents with him is not. One might suggest that an attempt by the Packers to simply force Favre into retirement will be frowned upon by the NFL, but in the end, the Packers own the ultimate power by retaining Favre and keeping him in the second spot on the depth chart. As always, we'll keep you posted on news as it comes forth.
Moss not progressing as hoped in DenverWednesday 7/30, 7:20 PM CT
Shortly after OTA season for the NFL, we reported the concerns surrounding the lack of progress for last year's top draft pick in Denver, defensive end Jarvis Moss , were starting to grow. Thus far in training camp, observing media members believe those concerns are growing as Moss has struggled to get on track, according to the Pro Football Weekly.

Our View: PFW reports that while Denver coaches aren’t ready to give up on Moss, it’s beginning to look like his best fit is as a nickel pass rusher. At 6-foot-6 and 245 pounds, Moss is thinly built for a defensive end, and with Elvis Dumervil, who is also undersized, serving as the team's No. 1 defensive right end, Denver can’t afford to start both of them because they would likely be pummeled by the run — a prospect the Broncos fear, having just gone through a season when they ranked 30th in run defense. Moss has been taking snaps with the second-team defense, behind starter John Engelberger, but he runs with the first unit in the nickel opposite Dumervil. Though it will be hard to find a place for Moss, the 17th overall pick in ’07, to contribute if he picks up where he left off last season — struggling to generate a pass rush — word is he’s not in danger of being cut. Moss had one sack in six games during his rookie year before he suffered a season-ending broken shin.
Broncos release LynchWednesday 7/30, 7:15 PM CT
The Denver Broncos will announce the release of veteran linebacker John Lynch on Thursday, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Our View: Lynch was excused from practice Wednesday morning for what coach Mike Shanahan called "personal reasons,'' after Lynch did not attend a team meeting Tuesday night as he wrestled with limited playing time in the Broncos defense. The team has given Lynch permission to explore other options, both inside and outside of football. It is expected his release will be announced by the team Thursday.
Glenn hears Miami, but others are interested as wellWednesday 7/30, 7:03 PM CT
Terry Glenn spoke with reporters today and acknowledges his agent has had talks with the Miami Dolphins, but they are not the only team that has come knocking, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Glenn said his agent has talked to several teams, but he failed to mention who those teams might be. Meanwhile, Miami coach Tony Sparano told Miami media that the team is doing their "due diligence" on Glenn, meaning they want to make sure he can play with his surgically-repaired knee.
Johnson gets knee drained in ArizonaWednesday 7/30, 6:58 PM CT
There is concern in Arizona as the leader on the offensive line, veteran Al Johnson , has been sent back to team headquarters after getting fluid drained from his surgically-repaired knee, according to SBNation.

Our View: This is the second time Johnson has found a needle in the knee since camp opened, and that's a concern. Worries of an injury that may never get better are sure to set in, but the team expects to rest Johnson for the remainder of camp and believes he will be good to go for the regular season. Meanwhile, backup Kyle Sendlein will get work with the first unit, a future the team envisioned when he was drafted. He may be jumping towards the future now.
Ravens sign SlaughterWednesday 7/30, 6:50 PM CT
The Ravens added depth to their struggling offensive line, signing six-year veteran tackle Chad Slaughter to a one-year contract, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Our View: The decision to add Slaughter comes after the Ravens failed to reach a deal with John Welbourn, a four-year starter for the Kansas City Chiefs. Welbourn sat in the team hotel for hours as the sides tried to agree to a contract. It is believed Welbourn walked away from a one-year deal worth the NFL minimum. That led the Ravens to signing Slaughter, who drew interest from the Ravens in March. At 6-foot-8, 340 pounds, Slaughter can play at left or right tackle. He has played 43 games for the Oakland Raiders (2002-2006), including seven starts.
Leinart starting to find comfortWednesday 7/30, 6:46 PM CT
Recent praise for Arizona passer Matt Leinart came from coach Ken Whisenhunt during OTAs, and Leinart now reports he feels he is improving as well, according to the East Valley Tribune. The Trib quotes Leinart, when asked about his progress, as stating, "I know at this point last year, I had no clue. A little bit, but really had no clue what was going on. This year, I feel like I do. I have a command of the offense.”

Our View: Fantasy owners hope this to be true, for Leinart was nothing short of disappointing as a rookie. The hope (especially for those in keeper leagues) is to see this translate to the regular season, so keep an eye on Leinart as he hits the field in preseason action. The team has already named him as the starter for Game #1, so you'll get an early chance for review.
Jones looking for redemption in JacksonvilleWednesday 7/30, 6:37 PM CT
With news of pending arthroscopic surgery for Reggie Williams tainting the day as a headache, the Jaguars are happy to report embattled Matt Jones is enjoying a wonderful camp and appears to be doing what he can to get out of the team's doghouse, according to SBNation.com.

Our View: The receiver worries in Jacksonville are stressful enough with free-agent signee Jerry Porter struggling to get on the practice field and Williams going down just a few hours after being activated from the PUP list. The worries haven't ended for Jones, still facing a court date for cocaine possession charges, but the effort in training camp indicates Jones is going to put his best foot forward when he is on the field. The report also indicates the Jaguars are now turning full focus to camp invitees D'Juan Woods and Jeron Harvey, undrafted rookie receivers that showed strong potential during their collegiate careers. If they can seize this opportunity, they may find a spot on the team's practice squad... and with the injuries piling up, that could bring regular-season snaps. Stay tuned.
Woodson still seeing time in punt returnsWednesday 7/30, 6:28 PM CT
Fully recovered from injury and showing signs of rebirth in Green Bay, defensive back Charles Woodson is now being considered for a job he once filled admirably, namely returning punts, according to PackersNews.com.

Our View: Woodson had 33 of the Packers’ 48 punt returns last season, averaging 8.1 yards, before injuring the big toe on his right foot on Nov. 22 at Detroit. Those numbers were a point of contention for fans of the team, and with the arrival of Will Blackmon and Tramon Williams as viable return threats last season, we figured the veteran cornerback was done with those duties. Instead, the Packers see value in a committee approach and are likely to use all three during the season.
Missing Spencer is putting Seattle in troubleWednesday 7/30, 6:05 PM CT
The reports out of Seattle indicate the offense is showing obvious signs of struggle without starting center Chris Spencer on the field, according to Pro Football Weekly. Spencer is recovering from offseason shoulder surgery and has yet to be cleared for football activities. PFW reports Spencer is making progress but is expected to miss at least 10-12 practices before being evaluated once again.

Our View: If this stretches into the preseason, you can start questioning the true fantasy of players like running backs Julius Jones and T.J. Duckett, but quaterback Matt Hasselbeck may suffer the most. We'll keep you posted.
Baker ready to start practicingWednesday 7/30, 6:00 PM CT
Jets tight end Chris Baker tells reporters he is itching to get back on the practice field, feeling motivated to put the bad vibes of a troublesome offseason to rest, according to the New York Post. Unhappy with his contract and struggling with an injured back, Baker said today he's ready to start practicing whenever he's cleared. "I've told the strength coach that I feel great, I'm ready to go," Baker said today at training camp. "When they say, 'Okay, he's fully 100 percent, let's go,' then I'll go. Physically, I'm fine now and feel great."

Our View: It has been speculated Baker may have been put on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list on the eve of training camp as punishment for his contract stance and vocal displeasure in the media. If he feels as good as he claims, he'll be on the field before long and we will see if he can find the game to reach new offensive production levels.
DeAngelo looks great in campWednesday 7/30, 5:51 PM CT
DeAngelo Williams continues to look good in camp working with the first team offense, according to the Gaston Gazette.

Our View: Sure it's early, but this is great news for those of you who own DeAngelo in dynasty leagues. Jonathan Stewart will certainly be involved this season, but it's starting to look like Williams should open the year as the starter after there was some thought that the spot could go to the rookie Stewart.
Coles sits out with undisclosed injuryWednesday 7/30, 5:38 PM CT
Laveranues Coles sat out Wednesday's practice with an undisclosed injury, according to Newsday. Coles, 30, missed five games last season.

Our View: Coles always seems to come up with nagging injuries and this one is probably no exception. The 5-foot-11 wideout got some more guaranteed money in March and hopefully that will not equate to him slacking off. The missed time will allow Jerricho Cotchery to get more chemistry going with the Jets quarterbacks.
McFadden is meeting expectationsWednesday 7/30, 5:20 PM CT
Raiders.com reports that when asked what single player has stood out the most at camp, Coach Lane Kiffin responded, “I think Darren [McFadden] continues to make a play or two every day, a wow play. We just have to continue to push him as far as we can, and we have to find ways to get him the ball.” The Raiders rookie running back is being asked to acclimate to the speed of NFL training camp practices that he never experienced before. “It’s high intensity coming out here with guys flying around at 100 miles per hour,” said Darren McFadden .

Our View: So far, so good. Justin Fargas is still getting plenty of first team reps, but look for McFadden to get no less than 10 carries at any point this season.
Rudi looks like new in CincyWednesday 7/30, 5:14 PM CT
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Rudi Johnson has come into camp nearly 20 pounds heavier than a season ago, yet his body fat percentage is down. Johnson worked with Bengals strength and conditioning coaches Chip Morton and Ray Oliver daily in the offseason program and unveiled his larger, sculpted physique this week at training camp.

Our View: And get this - he looks faster. All indications point to a bounce-back season for Rudi. He has been running a lot more physically. “More power in the legs,” Johnson said again of the difference between 2007 and 2008. “I feel stronger getting in and out of my cuts. I can feel it every time I cut. It's just there.”
Neal is questionable for the seasonWednesday 7/30, 5:04 PM CT
Pro Football Weekly reports that there is legitimate concern in New England whether right guard Stephen Neal can be counted on consistenly this year. Neal started training on the physically-unable-to-perform list, and there’s no timetable for his return.

Our View: Neal sprained his knee in the Super Bowl (the one they lost to the Giants 17-14), and had shoulder surgery at the end of March. He has a history of injuries and if he is forced to miss extended time, there will have to be a significant reshuffling of the offensive line. Backup Russ Hochstein is a steady, veteran reserve but is far from a sound long-term replacement.
Pittman is playing fullbackWednesday 7/30, 4:49 PM CT
As speculated yesterday, Michael Pittman has confirmed that he will attempt to play fullback this season, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The Broncos made a similar move with Mike Bell a season ago. That move proved unsuccessful.

Our View: This is one less back that Selvin Young will have to beat out for the starting tailback position. Pittman stands at 6-foot, 228 pounds which may be a bit light for a fullback. The adjustment won't be easy for a 10-year veteran who is now asked to seek out contact as opposed to avoiding it which comes more natural to Pittman. Cecil Sapp is currently penciled in as the starting fullback for the Broncos.
Clemens making too many turnoversWednesday 7/30, 4:45 PM CT
Newsday reports that Kellen Clemens continued to struggle in day six of the Jets training camp. He now has thrown five interceptions to Chad Pennington's zero.

Our View: Not too surprising here as Clemens threw 10 picks to just five touchdowns over ten games a season ago. Chad Pennington appears to be the starter at this point. He has struggled with deep passes some, as he always has, but his accuracy is the best in camp. Regardless of whether or not he wins the job, Pennington is a risky pick on draft day do his arm. Working in noth quarterbacks' favor is a revamped offensive line that should give him plenty of time to make his reads and hopefully stay off of injured reserve.
Sweed carted off the fieldWednesday 7/30, 4:39 PM CT
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Limas Sweed ended an impressive practice on a concerning note. He was carted off the field during the afternoon practice on Wednesday with a possible right hamstring injury. His leg was being iced down.

Our View: The extent of any injury was not yet clear, but hopefully he will not be out long. He had been doing very well in camp up to this point. Earlier, coach Mike Tomlin had said, "We're giving Sweed a bunch of reps. He's a guy who has a lot of energy, a young guy who has a ways to go. He's capable of taking a lot of reps. He's one of those guys who doesn't get fatigued; he can run all day. So, it gives him a bunch of opportunities, and he took advantage of a few of those today." We like his chances to make a little bit of noise this season if he can get back up running soon.
Flacco is unimpressiveWednesday 7/30, 4:26 PM CT
Joe Flacco has not been very good in camp according to the Baltimore Sun. Playing mostly with backups, Flacco seems to be off-target with many of his passes.

Our View: This is certainly not a good sign for the first-round draft pick. It does allow fantasy owners a little more confidence if they are considering Kyle Boller, though. However, with the bleak receiving corps and an ailing offensive line, the Ravens don't figure to offer many capable fantasy starters at this point.
Boldin should return next weekWednesday 7/30, 4:21 PM CT
The Arizona Republic reports that Anquan Boldin is still out of camp but it's hoped he can return by early next week, at the latest. He has a strained hamstring.

Our View: Boldin is trying to get a new contract worked out and this may be a way of showing his disappointment. Expect him to have another strong season. Actually, it will probably be a more impressive season if he has to play for a deal rather than get one now.
Booker should backup WestbrookWednesday 7/30, 4:03 PM CT
SI.com says to look for Lorenzo Booker to beat out Correll Buckhalter for the backup running back job in Philadelphia. Peter King notes that he could become the kind of trusted change-of-pace back that could give Westbrook a blow for a series or two a game.

Our View: He just turned 24. He averaged 4.5 yards per rush, and caught 28 balls in only five games of part-time play in Miami last year. If you decide to handcuff Westbrook with a late pick, count on Booker being the guy.
Williams will undergo surgeryWednesday 7/30, 3:58 PM CT
Jaguars' wide receiver Reggie Williams will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery after re-injuring his right knee during training camp, according to the AP. Williams initially hurt his knee working out last week and opened camp on the physically unable to perform list. He was activated Tuesday and returned to practice but tweaked his knee during the evening session.

Our View: No timetable is set for his return, but don't count on it being anytime soon. This likley bumps up the values of Jerry Porter, Troy Williamson and Dennis Northcutt. We'll let you know as soon as we know when Williams is expected back.
Leftwich will visit TitansWednesday 7/30, 3:54 PM CT
The Tennessean reports that Byron Leftwich will visit the Tennessee Titans later this week.

Our View: The Titans have been happy with Vince Young and backup Kerry Collins so don't assume this means that they are on the verge of signing him. He threw for 279 yards in three games for the Falcons last season.
McCown is looking like the best optionWednesday 7/30, 3:38 PM CT
Pro Football Weekly reasserts that Josh McCown has taken a considerable lead in the race to become the Dolphins’ starting quarterback. Sources close to the club say he has impressed coach Tony Sparano with the ease with which he’s picked up the nuances of the offensive system. Additionally, he’s been terrific throwing on the run, specifically on rollouts, which the Fins are expecting to utilize often.

Our View: The sooner McCown is named the starter the better. The likely addition of Terry Glenn to a receiving corps of Ernest Willford, Ted Ginn Jr., and Derek Hagan will be a big boost to his fantasy potential. The current strong performances coming from Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown help the cause. However, even at his best, McCown will probably fall into the bottom five or so starting quarterbacks for Week 1.
Dan Morgan to unretire?Wednesday 7/30, 3:26 PM CT
The Charlotte Observer reports that it's possible that Dan Morgan may unretire. “He is so far beyond, so much better than everybody else with speed, knowledge, being athletic – he could take three years off and still be better than anybody else,” the Carolina Panthers' second-year middle linebacker Jon Beason said. Beason said he spoke with Morgan on Monday and was planning on talking to him again soon. “He's doing great,” said Beason. “He wants to know what's going on.

Our View: Morgan was an absolute beast in his prime and now may be pulling a Brett Favre. As of right now, don't expect a return, and even if he does it would remain to be seen how effective he could be.
Jackson returns to campWednesday 7/30, 2:41 PM CT
DeSean Jackson has been out the last two days with a hamstring strain but returned to practice on Wednesday, according to the Eagles' website.

Our View: Jackson said the "tweak" was not that serious, so he was able to deal with it and return to action. However, this is the same injury that kept him out for part of the OTAs in June. Jackson never had a history of hamstring injuries prior to being drafted in the second round by the Eagles. Regardless of the injury, it's too early to count on Jackson having any impact whatsoever for the Eagles this season.
Jones doesn't appear to be a starterWednesday 7/30, 2:32 PM CT
Second-year pro Jacoby Jones is behind Andra Davis on the Texans' depth chart at this point, according to the Houston Chronicle. As a rookie he appeared in seven games and caught 15 passes for 149 yards.

Our View: Jones has shown spurts where he has looked like a very good wideout, but he is bogged down by his inconsistency. Don't expect him to crack the starting lineup without a serious injury occurring. He is not worth drafting in fantasy leagues.
Branch begins camp on the PUP listWednesday 7/30, 2:28 PM CT
As expected, Deion Branch has begun Seahawks' camp on the PUP list as he is still recovering from offseason ACL surgery, according to the Seattle Times.

Our View: His absence will allow Nate Burleson, Logan Payne and Courtney Taylor a chance to join Bobby Engram on the first-team. Branch is hopeful for Week 1 but we don't expect him to start right off the bat. The competition is to great for the veteran to just walk in and land the gig.
Ware leaves practice with head injuryWednesday 7/30, 2:21 PM CT
DeMarcus Ware was forced to leave Wednesday morning's practice early after suffering a blow to the head, according to the Star-Telegram. Ware left the field just before the stretching and post-practice huddle.

Our View: No word yet on the extent of the injury but there's always concern about a possible concussion. Ware was a terror last season and he is expected to be one of the more dominant outside linebackers again this season.
Spears moves to nose tackleWednesday 7/30, 2:17 PM CT
Marcus Spears has come into camp noticeably bigger this season in preparation to play nose guard in the 3-4 defense in Dallas, according to the Star-Telegram. He played mostly end last season but the Cowboys coaching staff fill that he will be better utilized at his new position.

Our View: This is Spears' fourth year in the league and he was pretty average as a defensive end during his first three campaigns. He has added roughly 15 pounds and seems determined to make an impact in his new space-eating role.
Ratliff will play end for CowboysWednesday 7/30, 2:12 PM CT
The Star-Telegram reports that Jay Ratliff has been working exclusively at defensive end during the first practice Wednesday morning while Marcus Spears worked at nose tackle. "That was something that had been talked about," Ratliff said of switching to defensive end. "But I guess it's a reality now."

Our View: The move gives the Cowboys a bigger body in the middle and possibly a better pass rusher at defensive end. Ratliff has good quickness and energy. He could come up with a healthy number of sacks this season. But he reminds us, "It's going to take some time getting used to it."
Slaton looking impressive in HoustonWednesday 7/30, 2:09 PM CT
The Houston Chronicle reports that Steve Slaton has looked very good in camp and that the coaches are giving him a lot of reps. He's showing blazing speed, great hands and breakaway ability.

Our View: Nothing new here except that he's getting a good look. Chris Brown is injured and no one can be sure of what to expect from the rest of this group. We'll keep an eye on this battle all the way to Week 1.
Clayton competing for the starting jobWednesday 7/30, 2:02 PM CT
The Tampa Tribune reports that Jon Gruden had plenty of good things to say about wide receiver Michael Clayton on Wednesday. "Well, we know he’s a very good player. What I’ve seen is five or six consecutive days where he’s put his fist down and said, ‘I’m a go-to receiver.’ If he continues to do that, he’s going to be a big part of this offense again. Hopefully he stays healthy and continues doing exactly what he’s doing. He’s focused, he’s all business and he’s running all kinds of routes. He’s running inside routes, outside routes, and he’s showing very good stamina. And we know he can run with the ball after the catch. So we like what he’s doing but we’ve got a long way to go.”

Our View: All Mike has to do to get in the starting lineup is beat out 64-year-old Ike Hilliard and Antonio Bryant who has not played since 2006. Clayton caught seven touchdowns as a rookie in 2004 but has managed just one more in the three seasons since then. Gruden may have been laying a heavy dose of coach speak on us or Clayton may have finally turned his ship around.
Gates says he will be ready for openerWednesday 7/30, 1:55 PM CT
Chargers tight end Antonio Gates believes he will be ready for the team's first regular season game, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Our View: Gates and Jason Witten are the two top tight ends in fantasy football, with a wink to Tony Gonzalez as well. Fantasy owners who drafted him have to be excited with this news.
Ball hurts ankleWednesday 7/30, 1:44 PM CT
Cowboys cornerback Alan Ball sprained his ankle during practice today, according to the Dallas Morning News.

Our View: Ball is in competition to earn a roster spot, and with the Cowboys deep cornerback unit, this injury will not help.
Ngata to be back in 2-3 weeksWednesday 7/30, 1:42 PM CT
Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata sprained his MCL this week, but he should only be out 2-3 weeks, according to ESPN.com. "Right now, it's just a little minor thing, a little speed bump that I'm trying to get over. I'll be back sooner than you guys think," he said.

Our View: Ngata is a force in the middle of the Ravens defensive line, and though this injury will cost him some time, he should be good to go during the regular season.
Gonzalez could have a few more seasons leftWednesday 7/30, 1:19 PM CT
Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez said he is 95% sure he will be back next season, but it's entirely possible he could stick around much longer, according to Pro Football Weekly. Gonzalez is 32 years old and stands to make a lot of money in the next few years, and he has never won a playoff game in his career, which he obviously would like to do.

Our View: It seems like Gonzalez is older than 32 because he has been a premier tight end for so long. He remains a fantasy stalwart at his position, and is coming off a 99-catch season.
Ellis terms revealedWednesday 7/30, 1:15 PM CT
The contract of Saints first-round selection Sedrick Ellis is a five-year deal worth a maximum of $49 million, with $19.5 million guaranteed, according to ESPN.com.

Our View: Ellis had missed 12 practices in his holdout, but he is still expected to anchor the middle of the Saints defensive line at some point.
Hagan's play impressing DolphinsWednesday 7/30, 1:04 PM CT
Wide receiver Derek Hagan's camp performance is drawing rave reviews from teammates, according to the Miami Herald. The 2006 third-round draft pick always has been viewed as a talent, but dropped passes the past two seasons raised questions. Through the first few days of camp, he has consistently caught passes and showed aggressiveness and ability to make big plays in traffic. "His work habits went up 10 notches," Dolphins cornerback Andre' Goodman said. "I love the guy. I'm a Derek Hagan fan right now." Hagan believes he is poised for his best season. "I'm not playing behind two former Pro Bowlers," he said Tuesday, referring to departed veteran receivers Chris Chambers and Marty Booker. "Those guys are gone, and now it's my turn. The Dolphins drafted me for a reason. The time is now."

Our View: He will have to continue to shine if he expects to get opportunities. The Dolphins are expected to sign veteran Terry Glenn soon. Also in his path are last year's first-round pick, Ted Ginn Jr. and recently signed Ernest Wilford. We don't expect Hagan to have much a fantasy impact in 2008, expecially with one of the league's worst quarterback situations.
Pace eating Long upWednesday 7/30, 1:04 PM CT
Rookie defensive end Chris Long, the second overall pick in the draft, is not having too much success in individual team drills as he battles Orlando Pace, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Our View: This is nothing to worry about so early in camp. In fact, it's probably good news for the Rams because they need a healthy Pace manning the left tackle spot. Long certainly isn't the first and won't be the last defensive end to struggle getting past the future Hall of Fame tackle.
Carter lines up at tight endWednesday 7/30, 12:54 PM CT
Buccaneers defensive lineman Kevin Carter took some snaps at tight end during practice, according to PewterReport.com. Coach Jon Gruden thinks Carter could be of some value there. "We like to use three tight ends in the game down there by the goal line. We've used an extra offensive tackle, which we have in the playbook, but Kevin Carter has played a long time. He understands pad level. He understands that it's going to be loud around the goal line," he said.

Our View: With tight end Jerramy Stevens suspended for the first two games of the season, Carter may get his chance to play a little bit of offense, though likely only as a blocker.
Adams looking much better in his second campWednesday 7/30, 12:52 PM CT
Gaines Adams has been taken notes on diet, preparation, and work ethic from his teammates and it shows, according to the Tampa Tribune. He has come into camp in far better shape, with more energy, and in a better mindset. There's an edge to Adams' game now. A better understanding of what the Bucs really want from him is a big part of that. "He was just a completely different player that second half last year," Bucs linebacker Barrett Ruud said. "It was like the light suddenly went on for him at some point."

Our View: Adams had 5.5 of his seven sacks last year in the final eight games (including the playoffs). He is expected to be a full-time starter this season and should have an impact for a vaunted Bucs defense.
Lewis should start in CarolinaWednesday 7/30, 12:45 PM CT
The Charlotte Observer reports that Damione Lewis, a former first-round pick that never quite fit with the St. Louis Rams, is looking good in Carolina and could be set to become a starter at defensive tackle this season. Last season he backed up Kris Jenkins, who has since been traded.

Our View: He totaled eight sacks in two seasons as a reserve and could match that total in 2008. It's been a long journey for the 2001 first rounder out of Miami, but it appears he is finally set to be a regular starter. Expect him to take advantage of the opportunity.
Finnegan set to shineWednesday 7/30, 12:40 PM CT
Entering his third season, Cortland Finnegan comes into Tennessee camp as the starting cornerback, and expectations are high according to The Tennessean. The day voting for the Pro Bowl ended last year, DC Jim Schwartz, who describes his cornerback as "one feisty dude," pulled Finnegan aside and said: "You're not going to make the Pro Bowl, but I would take you over any of the guys that do make it." At the end of last season, members of the defensive coaching staff were given video clips of every player on the Titans defense. Coaches were asked to rank players in terms of value to the defense. "Cortland was ranked in the top five in every vote," Schwartz said.

Our View: The Titans have a hell of a defense so take note when their coach tells you how awesome Finnegan is. He recorded 95 tackles, a sack, and an interception in his second season, 2007, and those numbers should increase in 2008. He is a deep sleeper in IDP leagues.
Abiamiri may miss seasonWednesday 7/30, 12:34 PM CT
Eagles defensive end Victor Abiamiri may miss the entire season after two screws had to be inserted into his wrist during surgery, according to the Philadelphia Daily News.

Our View: This is a significant blow to the Eagles defense as Abiamiri, a second-round selection last season, was in competition to grab a starting job.
Bell invited to tryout for TexansWednesday 7/30, 12:28 PM CT
The Houston Texans will bring in running back Mike Bell for a tryout on Friday, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We need some fresh legs to help the other guys,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “We know he can run our scheme.”

Our View: Bell was a rookie free agent from Arizona in 2006 when he rushed for 677 yards and scored eight touchdowns for the Broncos. When he failed to make a successful transition to fullback, they waived him. With Chris Brown sidelined with a sore back, don't be surprised to see Mike Bell get signed this weekend.
Williams still outWednesday 7/30, 12:28 PM CT
Tramon Williams will be out until at least Friday with an injury to his left hip flexor, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Our View: Williams, the likely candidate to be the Packers nickel cornerback this season, hurt himself in Monday's practice. Fortunately, the injury does not sound too serious and he should be fine in a few days.
Coach concerned about Brown's injuriesWednesday 7/30, 12:26 PM CT
Coach Gary Kubiak talked to the Houston Chronicle regarding injured running back Chris Brown. "I'm concerned about the time missed. You've got four backs (Ahman Green, Chris Taylor, Darius Walker and Steve Slaton) really working hard. He needs to get on the field and catch up."

Our View: The Texans seem anything but settled in their backfield. On Friday, the Texans will give tryouts to some running backs, including Mike Bell, who played at Denver the last two years.
Harrell put on PUP listWednesday 7/30, 12:24 PM CT
Packers defensive tackle Justin Harrell was placed on the physically unable to perform list, according to the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Our View: Harrell was the team's first-round pick in 2007 but only played seven games, accumulating 16 tackles. He ruptured a disc in his back lifting weights in the offseason and has yet to fully recover. His return date is unknown.
Russell has sore elbowWednesday 7/30, 12:16 PM CT
Raiders quarterback JaMarcus Russell was held out of practice on Tuesday night due to a sore elbow, according to the AP. "If we were playing a game he could have very easily played, so I don't foresee it being an issue at all," Raiders head coach Lane Kiffin said.

Our View: Russell will be fine as he simply hit his elbow on teammate Darren McFadden's helmet. In time he may become a fantasy asset, but the second-year QB is likely still a ways off from reaching that point.
Jones emerges in Bengals' secondaryWednesday 7/30, 12:15 PM CT
The Cincinnati Enquirer reports that David Jones has emerged as the No. 3 cornerback early in training camp behind starters Johnathan Joseph and Leon Hall. He was drafted last year by the Saints, appeared only on special teams and was later waived before the Bengals picked him up.

Our View: Good for Jones, bad for Bengals. Is this the best they could do? Marvin Lewis claims Jones learned a lot on the fly last year as a rookie, worked hard in the offseason and made great strides. Let's hope he's right or the Bengals secondary looks to get roasted again this season. Deltha O'Neal is in camp and supposedly looking good, but hasn't impressed to the level that Jones has.
Reed is out with a shoulder injuryWednesday 7/30, 12:10 PM CT
The Baltimore Sun revealed that Ed Reed's PUP position is due to a shoulder injury. "It’s a strengthening issue and that takes a little bit of time,” coach John Harbaugh said.

Our View: Reed has been working off to the side running and catching passes. There is not a clear timetable for his return, but obviously we'll follow the Pro Bowl safety's progress closely.
Scott suffers knee injuryWednesday 7/30, 12:02 PM CT
Pro Football Weekly reports that Ian Scott apparently suffered a serious injury to his knee on Wednesday morning. He will undergo medical tests this afternoon.

Our View: He was signed as a free agent to compete in the defensive tackle rotation and figured to be a primary backup. We'll keep you posted on the severity of the injury.
Raiola sprains his ankleWednesday 7/30, 11:56 AM CT
Center Dominic Raiola has started 96 consecutive games, and if he doesn't make it 112 the Lions are in trouble, according to The Sporting News Today. Raiola missed Tuesday morning's practice with a sprained ankle and the replacements managed a total of six botched snaps in his absence.

Our View: The Lions are hoping Corey Hulsey can fill that backup role but he has a long way to go. If Raiola goes down, expect the Lions offense to struggle as a whole.
Roberson signs with DolphinsWednesday 7/30, 11:43 AM CT
The AP reports that the Miami Dolphins signed free agent cornerback Chris Roberson on Wednesday. Roberson was a seventh-round draft pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2005. He had two tackles in six games with the Jaguars in his rookie season after spending the first 10 games on the practice squad.

Our View: Roberson will probably be little more than a practice squad player barring some injuries.
Boller looks like the starter in BaltimoreWednesday 7/30, 11:40 AM CT
Kyle Boller's efficient play early in training camp has enhanced his chance to win the Ravens' starting quarterback job, according to Pro Football Weekly. Boller has outplayed second-year pro Troy Smith and rookie Joe Flacco in the early stages of camp, largely by limiting his mistakes.

Our View: There is little doubt Boller has helped his stock by limiting his errors early on. Of course, much can change in Baltimore's four preseason games, and the quarterbacks' performances in those games will be given significant weight by the coaching staff.
Andrews continues to miss campWednesday 7/30, 11:36 AM CT
Shawn Andrews, one of the best guards in football, is at home in Little Rock, Ark., and his absence is worrying the Eagles, who are fining him $15,000 a day, according to SI.com. In his absence, backup Max Jean-Gilles is getting all the work with the first team offensive line.

Our View: The report is that this is not a contract holdout but rather has to do with personal problems and Andrews' mental state. Regardless, he is a big part of the Eagles offense and should he not be ready by Week 1, this could turn into a bigger deal.
Favre misplaces prioritiesWednesday 7/30, 11:05 AM CT
The Green Bay Press Gazette reports that Brett Favre worked out with the Oak Grove High football team Wednesday morning before hustling off at 9:50 am to a scheduled meeting with Packers’ President and CEO Mark Murphy. Murphy flew into Hattiesburg late Tuesday night for discussions aimed at keeping Favre out of the Packers’ training camp until the sticky situation can be resolved. When approached after the workout, Favre told reporters, “I’m late for a 9 o’clock meeting and I’m not lying.”

Our View: Brett, your meeting was nearly an hour ago and your just now leaving a high school team's practice?!? Do you really even want to play this season? Unless a sweet deal comes through for Green Bay, this thing has a good chance of getting messier before showing signs of resolution. On the other hand, how sweet would it be to be on the Oak Grove High football team this morning?
Colts' Pitcock retiresWednesday 7/30, 10:44 AM CT
Quinn Pitcock has reportedly retired according to the Indianapolis Star. The announcement ended a week of uncertainty regarding the team’s 2007 third-round draft pick. He was placed on the NFL’s reserve/did not report list when he failed to show up with the teammates last Thursday for the start of training camp.

Our View: He appeared in nine games as a rookie, one as a starter. He was expected to play an important role in the Colts' defensive line rotation this year, backing up likely starting tackles Ed Johnson and Keyunta Dawson.
Parmele looking good for DolphinsWednesday 7/30, 10:33 AM CT
Running back Jalen Parmele is distinguishing himself as the primary backup to Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams according to the Palm Beach Post. Parmele hits the hole quickly and has the power to pick up the tough yards inside. He also has enough burst to bounce runs to the sideline.

Our View: Parmele is not worth considering as a third stringer, however, he is a good name to know in case the two players in front of him go down this season. Both are coming back from injury so the scenario is not far-fetched. He could be a Ryan Grant type pickup for an owner this season if things work in his favor.
Lewis poised for another big seasonWednesday 7/30, 10:24 AM CT
Jamal Lewis is in amazing shape according to the Browns' website. He has checked in "lighter and looks even younger than he did last season."

Our View: Lewis tallied 1300-plus yards a season ago on top of 11 touchdowns. He is consistently undervalued in drafts but should finish among the top-15 rushers with a healthy season. The Browns are a big threat through the air meaning teams will not be able to stack it in on the powerful back as they did when he played for the Ravens. Given that more and more teams are using a committee approach at the position, Lewis is one of the more reliable selections for a second running back on fantasy squads.
Rogers anchors the Browns' defenseWednesday 7/30, 10:17 AM CT
Shaun Rogers has been nothing short of dominant in the Browns' camp, according to the team's website. "His interception after he tipped the ball to himself Friday has probably been the signature moment of camp's first week, but he's performed at a high level throughout and has literally pushed his way through double teams - one hand on one blocker, the other on another - the way very few humans could."

Our View: In 2007 Rogers recorded seven sacks, four fumble recoveries, and an interception to go with 39 tackles. He remains one of the top defensive tackles for IDP leagues. The Browns sent out a terrible defensive unit last season, so the acquisition of Rogers is huge, both physically and theoretically. The Browns still are far away from a top-10 defense but they should improve somewhat this season.
Edwards is getting betterWednesday 7/30, 10:11 AM CT
The Browns' official website is raving about Braylon Edwards' camp performance. "(He) continues to amaze. He makes the near-impossible catch look easy and beats double teams by sprinting past or jumping over defenders. He's dropped maybe two passes out of 400, and some of the balls he's caught would have been incompletions to just about anybody else."

Our View: Edwards is widely considered a top-4 wideout in fantasy circles. He hauled in an impressive 16 touchdowns in his third season last year. Among the top-4, he is younger (25) than Randy Moss (31), Reggie Wayne (29), and Terrell Owens (34). That gives reason to believe he has the most upside of the group.
Edwards activated from PUP listWednesday 7/30, 10:07 AM CT
Ray Edwards, who had miss all the team's workouts up until this point, has been activated from the PUP list and is said to be in good shape according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Our View: Edwards’ return will give the Vikings No. 1 defensive line a chance to practice together for the first time this season.
Ratliff most impressive Jets quarterbackWednesday 7/30, 10:04 AM CT
Brett Ratliff has been more impressive than either Chad Pennington or Kellen Clemens to this point in camp, according to the Newark Star-Ledger. He has played so well at times that he has received reps with the first team. It'll be interesting to see if the Jets cut Erik Ainge, a fifth-round pick who has been pedestrian so far, and keep Ratliff, a free agent.

Our View: Ratliff has a big arm and is poised. Said Ratliff, "I tried to spend as much time in the offseason with the coaches, with Chad (Pennington) or Kellen (Clemens), whoever would spend time with me, trying to get better, so when I came in here now, I wasn't swimming like I was last year. I'm still learning, still progressing and I still have a long ways to go." That he does. There's probably not a snowball's chance in hell he winds up the starter. If anything, this should simply lower your expectations for Pennington and Clemens.
Hackett has been quiet Wednesday 7/30, 9:53 AM CT
D.J. Hackett has been quiet at the onset of training camp, but he did haul in touchdown passes in two consecutive plays during red-zone drills on Tuesday, according to the Charlotte Observer. The first scoring pass (from Jake Delhomme) had rookie safety Charles Godfrey and cornerback Richard Marshall talking to each other about what went wrong.

Our View: Hackett will push Muhsin Muhammad for the starting role opposite Steve Smith, but will more than likely serve as the number three receiver in the slot. Hackett is injury prone and the Panthers look to be a run-oriented offense with Jon Stewart added in the draft, meaning Hackett is not a strong and fantasy prospect for 2008.
Stewart fully practicing Wednesday 7/30, 9:44 AM CT
The Charlotte Observer indicates that Jonathan Stewart is healthy following his toe surgery, and is fully practicing in training camp. He has looked good so far, and coach John Fox said, "He’s had some flashy looking runs ever since the first day. We’re easing him into it and he continues to impress us."

Our View: He is also being featured often as a receiver out of the backfield, and looks to make a favorable impact as a rookie while splitting the workload with DeAngelo Williams.
Jones working as third receiver Wednesday 7/30, 9:09 AM CT
