Our View: He will miss Monday's game, but is hoping to return as early as Thursday against Vancouver.

Sidney Crosby has been named the NHL First Star of the Week, according to HockeyBuzz.com. Crosby earned the honor by leading all scorers for the week with nine points (six goals, three assists) over three games.

Our View: He closed out the week with his second career hat trick against the Devils. Crosby moved up to second in the NHL in scoring with 34 points, and is playing up to expectations as a No. 1 fantasy pick.
Kovalchuk demoted Monday 12/1, 10:15 AM CT
Ilya Kovalchuk has scored eight goals and 13 assists over 23 games, but coach John Anderson decided to demote him to the fourth line, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Our View: He is being paired with Marty Reasoner and Chris Thorburn. Anderson noted that he was going to make some changes as he has been displeased with the play of the team.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere is likely to start Monday's game at Detroit, according to the Orange County Register.

Our View: He has been away in Montreal for close to a week while dealing with a serious family matter, but returned to the Ducks Sunday. He may need time to get back on track, namely from an emotional standpoint, and will be an unstable fantasy option if he gets the call against the defending champs.

David Booth is dealing with a shoulder injury sustained Sunday against the Rangers, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Our View: The severity of the ailment is yet to be determined. Booth has been among the most productive members of the Panthers so far this season, and has been a solid source for fantasy goals with 12.
Anderson slated for Tuesday Monday 12/1, 9:41 AM CT
Craig Anderson has been slated to start between the pipes Tuesday against Washington, according to the Sun Sentinel.

Our View: Anderson has only registered one win in his last three outings, but holds a solid .948 save percentage and 1.87 goals-against average for the season. He is worth consideration for Tuesday.

Denis Gauthier is dealing with a foot injury sustained in Saturday's battle with Chicago, according to the LA Times.

Our View: He is expected to miss tonight's game against the Leafs, and the severity of the ailment is yet to be decided. The enforcer will be missed by the Kings and fantasy owners will have to find another source for penalty minutes while he is out.
Madden may be back Thursday Monday 12/1, 9:21 AM CT
John Madden may be ready to return to action Thursday against Philadelphia, according to the Star-Ledger. He is recovering from a foot injury.

Our View: This is good news for the Devils, as Madden provides solid veteran leadership, and could still net 20 goals.
Leafs hopeful regarding Stajan Monday 12/1, 9:13 AM CT
Toronto coach Ron Wilson is optimistic Matthew Stajan will be able to take the ice Monday against the Kings, according to the Toronto Sun. Wilson said, "He needed an IV before the game to play Saturday. So knowing that, he stayed home Sunday. But we think he'll be okay for the trip."

Our View: Stajan is a rising star and would have a shot to reach 25 goals if he can remain intact over the course of the season. He should be fine to pencil into lineups for the week.
