Morrisonn and Caps to arbitrateSunday 7/13, 11:53 PM CT
The Washington Post repors that Boyd Gordon agreed to a one-year deal on Saturday leaving defenseman Shaone Morrisonn as the only unsigned Capital.

Our View: Morrisonn is expected to go to arbitration on July 24.
Jagr signs with Avangard OmskSunday 7/13, 8:59 PM CT
TSN of Canada is reporting that Jaromir Jagr's days in the NHL are over. Avangard Omsk announced it has signed the former New York Rangers star and Jagr's agent, Pat Brisson, confirmed the move Friday afternoon. "Jaromir signed a letter of intent with the Avangard Omsk Hockey team of the Russian CHL on or about 3am EST this morning. I won't comment on the terms of the agreement at this time.It was a very difficult but personal decision to make in light of the many NHL teams interested in his services. He is grateful to the NHL and especially the Rangers in recent years."

Our View: Jagr, in the twilight of a terrific career, played in all 82 games for the Rangers and scored 71 points, 46 being helpers.
Bergeron recovery on trackSunday 7/13, 10:57 AM CT
Patrice Bergeron's recovery from a major concussion is on track, and he participated in Boston's development camp this week, according to the Boston Herald. “I feel great. There’s no question in my mind that I’m ready and that I can go through the next 1 months of workouts and feel great for September,” he said.

Our View: Bergeron is a talented scorer when healthy, putting up at least 70 points in two of the three seasons he has been healthy. Concussions are tricky though, so drafting him on your fantasy squad comes with a risk that he may suffer another one at any point.
Fernandez expected to be healthy for campSunday 7/13, 10:16 AM CT
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli expects goalie Manny Fernandez to be ready to go for training camp, reports the Boston Globe. Fernandez is coming off of knee surgery.

Our View: At age 33 and coming off knee surgery, Fernandez can not be counted on by fantasy owners to deliver much, especially with the way Tim Thomas played last season.
Murray likely goneSunday 7/13, 10:10 AM CT
Glen Murray will likely be bought out by the Bruins in order to get the contract of Dennis Wideman to fit under the team's salary cap, according to the Boston Globe.

Our View: Murray did not have a great season a year ago, registering just 30 points, and at age 35, his fantasy value is limited.
Wideman contract nearly finalizedSunday 7/13, 10:06 AM CT
Dennis Wideman will soon have a contract completed with the Boston Bruins, according to the Boston Globe. The paper reports the contract will be for three or four years at about $3 million per year.

Our View: Wideman is a solid fantasy defenseman, and had 13 goals last year, to go along with a +/- rating of +11.
Theodore happy to be in WashingtonSunday 7/13, 9:22 AM CT
Jose Theodore is happy to be with the Washington Capitals, in part because the atmosphere there allows him to maintain his privacy, according to the Associated Press. "I think the change was really good. Being here, I'm really excited. I can focus on what I do for a living," Theodore said.

Our View: The Capitals will be happy as well if he plays like he did last year, or even better. He won 28 games and had a 2.44 goals-against average and is a very good option for fantasy players.
